Sibéal's daughter, Eithne (pronounced Enya), arrived safely if later than expected, just after midnight on Saturday, 8 April 2023 - she was the only puppy in the litter. As all we hoped for from Sibeal's last litter was a little girl for our direct bitch line, Eithne stayed at Overdene. Her father is the lovely Woody (Shinehill Snow Patrol), owned by John & Liz Keene and this is Sibéal's final litter. I first met Woody when he was still in Puppy classes, and liked him on sight. Over the past few years, he has grown up into a lovely mature dog - very happy and friendly, with a kindly, gentle and calm nature.

Sibéal is our current 6th generation direct line – and the decision to try for her final litter was made as we wanted a bitch puppy for that direct line – Eithne is our 7th generation. We also have Sibéal's mother Rúadhnait, younger ½ sister Dearbhaile, cousin Iris (whose father Rufus is Rúadhnait's litter brother), Iris's lastborn daughter, Ríona and another lovely, older bitch, Esme, who joined our family in 2016 when her owner was seriously ill and unable to keep her. Sibéal is very clever, loving and resourceful; had time permitted and opportunity presented itself, Sibéal would probably have been a good worker like her litter sister Marie, great uncles Breacán and Scrumpy, and great grandfather Lancer – the latter two both being "guns choice" for many years on their respective shoots.

More information about Sibéal can be found on her page; she has a hip score of 4:4, and elbow grade of 1 (X-rayed and graded when she was 6 years old) and a clear eye certificate under the KC/BVA scheme (date of last examination August 2022), including a grade 0 for gonioscopy – see results of health tests above. Woody also has a clear eye certificate under the KC/BVA scheme (last examined September 2022), a hip score of 6:4 and an elbow grade of 0. Sibéal and Woody are both "clear by inheritance" for GR_PRA 1 & 2, which means that their puppies are also "clear by inheritance" for both conditions.

Our puppies are always raised in the house with access to their own safe area of the garden (weather permitting) from about 4½ weeks of age, and can be seen with the older generations of Overdenes (and others) currently under our roof as outlined above. We do not usually allow visitors until the puppies are 5 weeks old.

Further information about Overdene Golden Retrievers can be found on our main page, including the fact that our puppies have their KC registrations endorsed "R" (progeny not eligible for registration) and "X" (not eligible for the issue of an export pedigree) – we never send puppies to homes overseas, even if we already know the enquirers.

Although we did have have a few puppies pre-booked by people who have had puppies from us before, we asked those with previous experience of Golden Retrievers, who might have been interested, should there be availability in due course to get in touch, if they could provide a permanent, loving home for one of Woody and Sibéal's puppies. We asked them to click on the "Contact my breeder" icon to do this via the UK Champdogs mail system - we asked them to give brief details of their family circumstances, work commitments, other pets, etc, and whether they were hoping for a boy or a girl. Although we always acknowledge all messages received, it would have been from this initial contact that we would ask for further information if ultimately we might have been able to help. As always, we made no apology for being "picky" – it's a responsible breeder's job to make sure their precious puppies go to the best possible homes where they will be loved and valued for the whole of their lives.
