The puppies from Grian's 1st litter have now all left for their new homes - except for Rúadhnait who is staying with us at Overdene. Grian proved to be a wonderful mother - she still looks good and has kept her coat although the puppies are now over 9 weeks old. We are also extremely grateful for the fact that we were able to have Rufus (Horham Star Dust) as the father of Grian's pups; sadly, Rufus died on 9 July 2012, so we feel honoured to have what has turned out to be his final litter.

The 5 girls and 2 boys arrived safely in the space of just under 1½ hours on the evening of Thursday, 3 May 2012. A lovely old-type Golden Retriever, Rufus was only lightly shown as a puppy; he decided very early on that showing was not his idea of fun! He has, however, proved himself to be an excellent stud dog, passing on his sunny disposition to his puppies over the years. The puppies' mother was shown between the ages of 6 and 24 months, with some success, coming home from every Open Show attended with at least one prize card, although showing has never been our priority.

The puppies are the 4th generation of Overdenes currently under our roof, and can be seen with 3 generations of their family (great granny Kyriaki, great auntie Rayne, granny Aoife, auntie Niamh and, of course, Mum!). As it's time to keep a puppy for our lines, we are very pleased to have a choice of bitches to stay with us at Overdene; 4 of the girls are currently pre-booked, as is one of the boys.
