A small family of Golden Retrievers who live indoors in our village home, and are shown occasionally. We have maintained type for over 50 years; ours are GOLDEN Golden Retrievers! Eyes are tested under the KC/BVA scheme, and hips and now elbows are usually X-rayed and scored/graded as soon as youngsters are old enough. Temperament is our top priority and most people who have puppies from our occasional litters keep in touch, and many return for another puppy in due course. Our puppies are raised in the house, with access to their own safe area of the garden from about 4-5 weeks, weather permitting. As a general rule, we only have a litter when it's time to keep a puppy, or when someone in the family or a close friend wants one. Although I withdrew from The Kennel Club's Assured Breeder Scheme at the end of 2013, Overdene Golden Retriever puppies continue to be bred and raised with the standards and requirements of the ABS in mind. Until August 2009, I held a separate interest in the DIRNANEAN kennel name with my sister, Dr E C Svennevik (who only has the occasional litter, but is now the sole breeder of Golden Retrievers under this name), and our youngest sister, Mrs S V Blackwell, also occasionally breeds Golden Retrievers under the KINDROGAN kennel name. All the Overdene, Dirnanean and Kindrogan lines are related, being descended from the 3 litters of our Overdene Astipalaia who left us aged 16+ in 2013. See picture of Tizzy (Overdene Kithera of Dirnanean), Rayne (Overdene Drakospilia at Dirnanean) and Aoife (Overdene Piganoussa).

Overdene Golden Retriever puppies have always left home with an extensive "puppy pack" which includes:
* Kennel Club Registration papers; all our puppies' KC registrations are endorsed with "R" (progeny not eligible for registration) and "X" (not eligible for the issue of an export pedigree). Wherever possible we undertake home checks before our puppies leave us, and we NEVER send puppies to homes overseas even if we already know the enquirers;
* 5-generation pedigree;
* A sale agreement/contract, signed by both parties, with a copy kept by each party, together with the KC form confirming acknowledgment of the registration endorsements.

Amongst other things, our puppy packs also include information about the parents, including photographs, copies of parents' hip score sheets, elbow grading sheets (where available) and eye certificates, a diet sheet and additional supporting information, worming record, suggested reading list - and our puppies also take with them:
* A piece of familiar bedding and a few toys;
* The next meat feed in a freezer container;
* A bottle of local water

I microchip all our puppies myself before they leave home, and in the rare event that puppies leave us after the age of 15 weeks, they will have been inoculated and regularly wormed.

We always hope to keep in touch with puppy owners for as long as they wish to keep in touch with us, and are happy to provide advice and answer questions which might arise after puppies have left us.
