Kola - the perfect puppy! Now the perfect young lady, I love her to pieces!

Kola was three weeks old when I lost 'Solar' (Tenfield Chamomile) age 12½ years, so she had to have a name in Solar's memory ...

From Pepper's second litter, there was no obvious contender to stay from four girls, she was a last minute choice! She turned out to be the perfect puppy, never did a thing wrong and has been such an easy girl to live with in every respect. She has very many of her late granny Teal's mannerisms, including her sense of fun and love of play, but is so like her Champion mum in looks I often confuse them at first glance! Kola is very much a pack member and particularly loves her big brother Chieftan, always egging him on for a game. She has only attended a handful of shows, four Championship Shows as a young puppy resulted in three 4th places in large classes and she only narrowly missed qualifying for Crufts. Then a knee injury (mine, not hers!) meant she stayed out of the ring for the rest of her puppyhood. Just as she started to grow a new coat as a Junior, her big sister Kiwi won her first Challenge Certificate, so Kola had to stay at home. In 2013 she only attended the Golden Retriever Club's Centenary Championship Show where she was placed in her class, this is where the top photo was taken.

Since then with the arrival of her baby half sister Dash who has had a precocious start to her show career, Kola has been my home bird. With her royal breeding and sweet temperament and having passed all of her health tests with glowing results, I hope her future will be to pass on her exemplary temperament, sound health and perfect manners to the next generation. Kola has the most lovely soft expression and is extremely well constructed, robust and lively. She was fascinated by Rally's puppies born March 2013 and I am sure she will one day prove to be as good a mum as the rest of her family. She also shows great aptitude for retrieving, so hopefully will also join the picking up team on the shoots later on.
