Brumberhill

The Brumberhill Border Terriers are a small hobby kennel, started when I bought my first BT puppy in 1980, from a local newspaper advert, at the age of 15.
Luckily for me her potential was spotted by Ted Hutchinson, who had heard about the new puppy and asked to see her. He had campaigned the then Breed Record Holder, Ch. Step Ahead, to his many wins. On seeing her, he said breed a litter from her first then I'll make her a Champion. I did....... and he did!!!! In 1982 she became Ch. Brumberhill Blue Tansy, winning her first CC with BIS at the Border Terrier Club Championship Show.
Her pedigree contained a mixture of Wharfholm, Deerstone and early Dandyhow, all well-known top producing lines. Mated to a grandson of Ch. Step Ahead, Cheltor Michael, whose pedigree was mainly Wharfholm and Deerstone, Tansy produced two daughters, both of whom produced champions......and a Dynasty was born!!
The Kennel today, has now owned or bred 15 UK Champions, plus other CC and Res CC winners, amassing a total of 139 CCs and 84 Res CCs.
The Kennel has also produced both the Breed Record Holder, Ch Brannigan of Brumberhill, and the Bitch Record Holder, and no. 2 All-Time Top Winner,Ch Brumberhill Betwixt ShCM., with 31 and 28 CCs respectively.
Between them, they have re-written the History books:
Brannigan winning the Breeds first BIS at a UK All-breeds General Ch. Show, first BIS at National Terrier, Res BIS at Crufts,first post war BOB at Crufts three years in a row, first Ch. Stakes Finalist, qualifying 4 years in succession.
Betwixt being the first bitch to win more than one Group at a UK All-breeds Ch. Show, as well as being the only other BT to win a RBIS, and qualify for the Ch. Stakes Finals, which she has done twice and the first Champion bitch to gain her Sh.CM.
The Brumberhill Border Terriers, between them, have won, at All-breed Ch. Shows 1 X BIS, 4 X RBIS, 11 X Group 1, 11 X Group 2 ( or Reserve Group ), 2 x Group 4 and 6 X qualifying for the Pedigree Stakes Finals. Brannigan, Betwixt, Bittersweet, Bewitched and Bestseller being responsible for these wins.
The Kennel has owned the Top Winning Border Terrier in '84, '86, '87, '88, '01, '04, '05 & '07, Top Puppy '84, '85, '86, been Top Breeder '04, '05, '07 '08, Joint '06, and owned the Top Brood Bitch '08, despite breeding only infrequently.
