Twist the dam is the 6th generation of working ESS in our family, her line is mostly Scottish and is very much one of working rather than trialling this gives her a natural ability and intelligence which has made her stand out from when she was a puppy, nothing was forced about her upbringing and her training was very much a natural progression, she was never intended to go on to test and trial but you can’t not show off a dog like her, taking her out was never a chore or a worry. Twist is consistent and always wants to work with you, she is a favourite of the guns and at trials the feedback is always the same, ‘that’s the kind of dog I want to shoot over!’ she’s extremely powerful and has stamina in the toughest terrain, her retrieving and ability to be handled make walked-up days fun, she’s even known to get an applause or two!
In the house and kennels she is completely silent and quiet natured-never a stress, she has always been quite grown up and focused on being well-behaved and although she does have a playful side I would say she’s more reserved. She is super with all our other dogs and can be kennelled with anyone.
Twist has a lot of substance and bone, this with her drive is what makes her so powerful. She is very good looking with heavy markings and a solid black head and, like her father (who can be seen) she’s never developed a single grey hair!
We have been looking for a very long time to find a dog to use on Twist, trying to combine a mating for a summer litter so as not to interfere with the shooting season has also been a challenge. We travelled over 6 hours to Robbie ‘Sperrinside McGregor’ after pouring over countless pedigrees and health results, I spoke to Rebecca about Robbie’s nature and her description of him won us over, he’s a lovely natured gentle soul who is silent in work and in the house/kennels. Robbie is also a good sized powerful dog but has a calm personality which is invaluable when you spend so much time/work with your dog. Robbie has proven himself in the trialling field having won many awards and now has progressed to open trials. Rebecca at Greenfox hopes to take this further and can see the makings of a champion, his pedigree is impressive and is full of red.
Both Twist and Robbie have every health test required and then some, they have perfect eye results and Robbie has an extremely low hip score.
The kind of home I expect these puppies will suit is one that cares about training and having a well mannered puppy/adult dog wether that be to trial and test or to take to the pub/park without being dragged about on the lead. These puppies will be trainable and if brought up correctly will be lovely companions that can be taken anywhere.
We will ensure these puppies will be well socialised and used to all sights and smells of the household.
Puppies are expected at the start of July and will be docked at a sensible length by our vets. This litter has been bred solely for the purpose of us retaining a bitch puppy ourselves, we will not allocate particular bitch puppies to homes until we have chosen our keeper-this is our priority.
Dog puppies will be allocated earlier and we can work together with puppy owners to find the best match at around 5/6 weeks when personalties develop.
Puppies will be vet checked, vaccinated, microchipped, KC registered and docked.
