Ginga is a super little working bitch who has been trialled and tested with success although she is used primarily as a work dog on our shoot here in the Borders, she excels in every discipline, rough shooting, beating and picking-up. Ginga has a natural hunting pattern that rarely needs correcting, even while working in cover heavy with game she doesn’t lose her head; her nose fixed firmly to the ground. She is extremely responsive to the whistle and always takes the next command with enthusiasm. She is a highly intuitive, intelligent dog who sometimes seems to mind read, I am never in doubt that I can get her onto a line and she picks up scent impressively, following it for miles.
Ginga is short legged but powerful and compact, and stamina is her middle name, she paces herself according to the work expected and can go beating after a days picking up and then quickly revert back to a tight hunting walked-up dog without correction. She’s a keepers dream and easily the most useful dog we have here, my husband often tries to steal her on days as she’s a lot of fun to work and never a stress, works in all cover, brambles, gorse and is studious in shorter cover too. Ginga has always been a keen retriever and was trained exclusively on dummies and will still work with them out of season.
