The puppies in Bonnie’s litter of 3 girls and 5 boys by lovely Woody (Shinehill Snow Patrol), owned by John & Liz Keene) have now left for their new homes, except for Scout, who has stayed at Dirnanean.

The puppies arrived safely on Friday, 26 July 2024; lovely Bonnie is a happy, friendly mid-gold girl, directly descended from our foundation bitch, Tizzy (Overdene Kithera of Dirnanean), who was her 4x great grandmother and, like Tizzy, Bonnie's grandmother Piper was also an Overdene Golden Retriever by birth. Woody gave my sister at Overdene a lovely bitch puppy in 2023, and this was instrumental in the decision to use him for Bonnie's litter. He is a very happy, friendly mid-gold boy, who has also enjoyed some success in the show ring; his owners have always said he is very easy to live with!

More information about Bonnie could be found on her page. Both parents are fully health tested; Bonnie has a hip score of 7:5, an elbow grade of 0:0, and a clear eye certificate, including a grade 0 for gonioscopy (date of examination May 2024) issued under the KC/BVA scheme. Woody also has a clear eye certificate under the KC/BVA scheme (date of last examination September 2024), is also graded 0 for gonioscopy, with a hip score of 6:4 and an elbow grade of 0:0. Bonnie and Woody are both "clear by inheritance" for GR_PRA 1 & 2, which means their puppies are also "clear by inheritance" for both conditions.

As is always the case, our Dirnanean puppies are raised in our home, with access to the garden (weather permitting) when they are old enough, usually around 5 weeks of age. Our puppies leave for their new homes with a puppy pack, including pedigree, KC registration documents (which we always endorse "progeny not eligible for registration" and "not eligible for the issue of an export pedigree"; the KC now requires us to get confirmation of this from our puppy purchasers using their own form), diet sheet, copies of the parents' hip, elbow and eye certificates, worming record, and a sales contract signed by both parties. Our puppies are vet checked before leaving us, and microchipped when they are 6 weeks old, using microchips supported by the PetLog database.

Further information about Dirnanean Golden Retrievers can be found on our main page. We always look for permanent, loving homes for puppies from our occasional litters, and will offer a lifetime of support. We never send puppies to homes overseas, even if we already know the enquirers, which is why all Dirnanean puppies have their KC registrations endorsed "not eligible for the issue of an export pedigree".

Wherever possible, we look for homes with previous experience of dogs, ideally Golden Retrievers, so we asked those interested in Bonnie's litter to us using the UK Champdogs "Contact my Breeder" icon above, giving details of their family circumstances, and whether they were hoping for a boy or a girl (we had already have several puppies pre-booked by people who have had Dirnanean puppies previously). Whilst we acknowledge all messages received, we make our initial shortlist from the information provided at this stage, and then ask for further details in due course if we are taking an enquiry further.
