The puppies in Bo Peep's 1st litter of 5 girls and 4 boys by handsome Eccles (Alibren Eccles at Tannadice JW, owned by John & Brenda Taylor) which arrived safely on Thursday, 14 April 2022 have now departed for their new homes - except for Bonnie, who was chosen to stay at Dirnanean.

Mum Bo Peep is a happy, friendly mid-gold girl, directly descended from our foundation bitch, Tizzy (Overdene Kithera of Dirnanean), who was her great great great grandmother and, like Tizzy, Bo's mother Piper was also an Overdene Golden Retriever by birth. Eccles is also the father of another youngster here at Dirnanean (Margot), and he has previously given my sister at Overdene three lovely litters – which was instrumental in the decision to use him for Bo's litter. He is a very happy, friendly dark cream coloured boy, who has also enjoyed success in the show ring.

More information about Bo Peep can be found on her page. Both parents are fully health tested; Bo has a hip score of 4:4, an elbow grade of 0:0, and a clear eye certificate, including a grade 0 for gonioscopy (date of examination September 2021) issued under the KC/BVA scheme. Eccles also has a clear eye certificate under the KC/BVA scheme (date of last examination October 2021), is also graded 0 for gonioscopy, with a hip score of 5:6 and an elbow grade of 0:0. Bo Peep and Eccles are both "clear by inheritance" for GR_PRA 1 & 2, which means their puppies are also "clear by inheritance" for both conditions.

As always, our Dirnanean puppies were raised in our home, with access to the garden (weather permitting) from when they are old enough around 5 weeks of age. They left for their new homes with a puppy pack, including pedigree, KC registration documents (which we always endorse "progeny not eligible for registration" and "not eligible for the issue of an export pedigree"), diet sheet, information leaflets, copies of the parents' hip, elbow and eye certificates, worming record, 5 weeks free insurance and a sales contract signed by both parties. As usual, the puppies were vet checked before leaving us, and microchipped when they are 6 weeks old, using microchips supported by the PetLog database.

Further information about Dirnanean Golden Retrievers can be found on our main page. We always look for permanent, loving homes for puppies from our occasional litters, and will offer a lifetime of support. We never send puppies to homes overseas, even if we already know the enquirers, which is why all Dirnanean puppies have their KC registrations endorsed "not eligible for the issue of an export pedigree". And ideally, we look for new homes where there is previous experience of Golden Retrievers - we asked those interested in being considered for one of Bo and Eccles's puppies to contact us via the UK Champdogs "Contact my Breeder" icon, giving details of their family circumstances, where they lived, work commitments, other pets, etc, and whether they were interested in a boy of a girl. We always acknowledge all messages received, but it is from this initial information that we decided whether to take an enquiry further. We never make any apologies for being "picky" – it's a responsible breeder's job to make sure their puppies go to the best possible homes, where they will be loved and valued for the whole of their lives.
