We are very sorry to announce that our lovely Chummy said "goodbye" on Monday, 2 March 2026. She was 14 years and almost 7 weeks.

Bred by my sister at Dirnanean, Chummy came to live with us in spring 2012 and eventually became Kindrogan Golden Retrievers' foundation bitch. She was the one of the two bitches born in her mother Honey's final litter chosen to stay in the family. She was a very sweet-natured and gentle girl who was a real pleasure to have around.

At her last test, Chummy had clear eyes under the KC/BVA scheme, including being clear "by inheritance" for GR_PRA1 & 2, and she had a hip score of 3:3 - see results of health tests above. Although she retired from maternal duties after her 2nd litter in 2016 (both her litters were by the handsome Rufus, Overdene Cumhai), she loved her descendants, although she was very much a one-off in the way she was equally happy to be with them, or sleeping on her favourite Coolaroo bed in the kitchen. My sister Merriol Haselden had Iris (Dirnanean Raynebow over Overdene) from the litter born in June 2014, and we kept Winnie from her 2nd litter born in February 2016. All current Kindrogans, and Dirnaneans are descended from Chummy, and we are very grateful for all she did for our family and our lines.
