The 3 girls and 2 boys in Winnie's 2nd and final litter arrived a little later than their due date and are now in their lovely new homes - except for Violet, the girl chosen to stay at Kindrogan and hopefully, continue our direct bitch line in due course. This time, we chose Bruno (Royal Rockstar Rhys) who gave Winnie's niece Hebe a beautiful litter last summer. We were so impressed with those lovely puppies that knowing we wanted to keep a bitch puppy from Winnie at Kindrogan, Bruno seemed the obvious choice – calm, gentle and good-looking!
Winnie has a hip score of 5:5 and a clear eye certificate under the KC/BVA scheme (date of last examination April 2021) – see results of health tests above. She is also "clear by inheritance" for the eye conditions GR_PRA1 & 2. Bruno's last eye examination was in October 2020, and he has also been DNA tested Clear for GR_PRA 1 & 2 which means his and Winnie's puppies are "clear by inheritance" for these conditions. Bruno has a hip score of 6:4 and an elbow grade of 0:0.
As always, the puppies were raised indoors with controlled access to an area of our garden from approximately 4½ weeks (weather permitting), and in addition to their mother, they could be seen with their granny Chummy, and cousin Hebe (Hebe is the daughter of Winnie's older full sister). Only in very exceptional circumstances do we allow visitors before the puppies are 5 weeks old.
Further information about Winnie could be found on her own page, and about Kindrogan Golden Retrievers on our main page, including the fact that our puppies always have their KC registrations endorsed "progeny not eligible for registration" and "not eligible for the issue of an export pedigree" – we never send puppies to homes overseas even if we already know the enquirers.
Wherever possible, we look for homes with previous experience of dogs, ideally Golden Retrievers, and we received many enquiries providing the requested information about who's in the family, work commitments, previous experience of dogs, etc and the sex of the puppy they were hoping would join their family. We made our initial shortlist from the information provided at that stage, and took suitable enquiries further when we knew how many of each sex were available. For us, it's never been a case of "first come, first served" when finding the right permanent, loving homes for our precious puppies.
