Casblaidd Don't Pay the Ferryman photo by: Richard Hewison | By Waverton Toby Ale of Varingo ex Casblaidd Duty Free 'Noof' - a most wonderful friend and sire of many accomplished dogs both here and abroad. Sadly lost late 2009 aged 11 1/2 with peritonitis after ne ate the stuffing from his 'Kudos' dogbed. Tremendously missed.
The Casblaidd kennel was founded in 1987, when Chris Hewison had his first dog, Nemo (The Viking of Woodbridge). Chris and Nemo went on to achieve many goals, not the least of which included the K.C.J.O. Junior of the Year and the K.C.J.O. Gold Medal in Obedience with the Welsh team. Nemo also partnered Louise Vaughan to the K.C.J.O. Junior Handler of the Year, showing the versatility of the Flatcoated Retriever.
Chris and Caroline are now carrying the affix into the next generation from their home in West Yorkshire.
This kennel prides itself on its working ability, and has taken many prizes in Working tests. The dogs all work hard during the season, which lasts from early September to the end of January, after which we attend selected shows. This kennel has bred nine dogs who have achieved their Shooting Dog Certificates - no mean feat.

Six Shooting Dog Certificate Holders photo by: Jo Hewison | Our aim is to produce good looking trainable dogs for work or play.
It is satisfying to have won the last six Shooting Dog Certificate Classes at the Flatcoated Retriever Championship show under six different judges with four different dogs. We are very proud of the six Shooting Dog Certificate holders in the picture. It would have been the Magnificent Seven, but we lost our dear Birdie the day before this picture was taken.
