The Casblaidd kennel was founded in 1987, when Chris Hewison had his first dog, Nemo (The Viking of Woodbridge). Chris and Nemo went on to achieve many goals, not the least of which included the K.C.J.O. Junior of the Year and the K.C.J.O. Gold Medal in Obedience with the Welsh team. Nemo also partnered Louise Vaughan to the K.C.J.O. Junior Handler of the Year, showing the versatility of the Flatcoated Retriever.

Chris and Caroline are now carrying the affix into the next generation from their home in West Yorkshire.

Kulawand Retrievers was founded in 1973 by Robert & Sandra Lane. Both Bob and Sandy worked with and had a love of animals from their formative years. Bob worked as a jackaroo in Australia for several years working with horses, cattle, sheep and cattle dogs. Sandy owned and trained collies. In the 1970s, just after their daughter was born, they lost their last collie and decided to have a retriever that was more in keeping with their new family; and thus started 38 years of owning, breeding and showing Golden & Flatcoated Retrievers. Today the Kulawand Affix is a three way partnership with .... (click to read more)

We have had Flatties since 2003. Our first girl Dilly (Bryshot Ice Maiden) was a beautiful and gentle dog with a hip score of 0/0. She gave us a gorgeous litter of puppies in 2009, sadly we lost her in 2010.

We kept our home bred girl Saffy (Figsbury Prima Zafferana) who was Dilly's daughter and she inherited her gentle, loving temperament. She produced her first litter of puppies with Mahinda Dudley. We have 3 dogs (black) and 3 bitches (1 black and 2 liver).
Perdy (Ronevorg It's a Deal) joined us in October 2010 just after we lost Dilly.

We hadn't planned to keep a puppy .... (click to read more)

Zuki is my first Flatcoat, and what a wonderful introduction to this breed. She is such a happy girl, loves chasing her ball, playing in any water including any puddle and having a cuddle. Love her to bits!

We now have an addition to our family, Lula. Our Cavalier King Charles, Alfie, passed away rather suddenly. So Lula has been a brilliant tonic to our sadness.
