We and our family of Golden Retrievers live within two miles of Stonehenge on Salisbury Plain. At present, we do not have any Basenjis, after distressingly losing 9 year old Bwindi in August 2005, but there will definitely be other Basenjis here in the future. *** 'Crisp' otherwise known as EMORLEN LYSANDER AT TENFIELD is an impeccably bred Beagle and loves his Golden family. He has now gone to live with Kim's parents in County Durham, to fill the desperate gap left by Bwindi. He is an Open Show Best of Breed winner and was exhibited at Crufts 2007***

We have owned Goldens continously since 1975 and before that owned a Beagle, adding a Basenji in 1978, who was our first real show dog. With our first Golden we competed in obedience and agility and started showing our second Golden in 1985. 'Ramble' won a Reserve CC at two years old and later became a Champion when we moved to Germany. She also produced our first litter in 1989 and most of our current Goldens have Ramble in their pedigree.

We usually have a waiting list for our home reared Golden Retriever puppies and welcome genuine enquiries. We ask all buyers to sign a contract and encourage owners to stay in touch. Permanent loving homes are our first consideration and we are delighted that many families have returned for a second and even a third 'Tenfield' puppy.

Our dogs are pets first and foremost and we show very infrequently compared to most kennels, but we have owned one Champion, three Reserve CC winners, the Kennel Club's Kennel Gazette Top Junior Warrant Winner (All Breeds) 1999, a PetPlan Junior Stakes Finalist, four Junior Warrant winners and ten Open Show Best of Breed winners. All of our dogs are Championship Show winners and four have been Championship Show Stakes class winners. Find out more about our dogs by clicking on the link above to visit our website.

We firmly believe all dogs should be capable of doing the job for which they were originally bred. To this end, most of our Goldens are trained to the gun and four currently work picking up for a local shoot. We have competed successfully in obedience and agility in the past, and one of our dogs has passed both Stages of the Kennel Club's new Gundog Working Certificate, one of only a handful of Goldens (including his Junior Warrant winning grandson) to have done so. We were presented with our Certifiicate at the 2006 Game Fair. 'Tor' also has his Show Gundog Working Certificate, along with three of our other Goldens.

We endeavour to produce sound healthy dogs from parents who meet all of the requirements for health as laid down by the Kennel Club/British Veterinary Association and who conform to the Kennel Club Breed Standard. We produce an old fashioned type of Golden, sound moving, hopefully long lived, active and brainy!

We also try to maintain low 'genetic co-efficients' as we realise the value in mantaining genetic diversity within pedigree lines. As biddability is very important to us, we have usually chosen stud dogs that have proved they can work in some way, but temperament is our number one priority. Our dogs are known for their constantly wagging tails and happy personalities.

We are delighted that the handful of dogs bred by us that have entered the show ring, have all won awards for their owners, including Stud Book Numbers, qualifying for Crufts, Open Show Best of Breeds & Gundog Puppy Groups and Championship Show wins including Gundog Groups and Best in Show overseas. Tenfield All At Sea won a Ch Show Veteran Stakes class and Ch Unavale Kitywake of Tenfield was Best Veteran at a breed club Ch Show age 12½ years; Tenfield Brandysnap of Crowshott was Reserve Best In Show at the Northern Golden Retriever Association Open Show in 2004 and Best Veteran In Show at the United Retriever Club Championship Show in 2005, proving that the Tenfields are 'lasters'. We are most delighted that the majority are much loved family pets and give much pleasure to their owners. This is what dog breeding is all about!

Our boys' temperaments are second to none and two are offered at stud to suitable ladies. 'Tor' holds his Junior Warrant, Show Gundog Working Certificate and is one of only a handful of Goldens in the country to have achieved his Working Gundog Certificate. He is an Open Show Gundog Group winner and multiple Championship Show first prize winner in Breed and Stakes classes. He is also the only Golden EVER to win the Kennel Club's Junior Warrant Winners Final. He has sired CC, Best of Breed and Junior Warrant winners and has produced both working and breeding stock for the charity' Canine Partners. 'Reiver' has produced puppies for 'Canine Partners' as well as 'Dogs for the Disabled' and his first puppies in the show ring have won Championship Show firsts and places, Open Show Best Puppy, Gundog Puppy Group and Reserve best Puppy in Show awards. He also has his Show Gundog Working Certificate and is an Open Show Best of Breed winner. All three of our boys are lovable and biddable and we are proud that they are all working gundogs.

All of our dogs live in the house and share the sofa in the evenings - they are borrowed regularly by friends for walks, days or short holidays ....... to know them is to love them!

In 2007 Tenfield Tern ('Roo') has joined Dogs for the Disabled as a trainee assistance dog and two year old Tenfield Trimaran ('Yarka') has been retained as a demonstration dog by Canine Partners. Photogenic Yarka is the mascot puppy on the links menu on the new Canine Partners website and Roo's photo is being used on the Dogs for the Disabled 'Sponsor A Puppy' literature.
