Three Generations on Holiday in Sunny Cornwall

Pippin (Alicia Alongside Chattafin) to the left followed by her son, Lord Lavender of the Fields (Tor, short for Hector) and Foxy Fentilina (Sue) all thoroughly enjoying being spoilt beside the sea, on holiday in Cornwall. Our dogs love everything to do with water - swimming in the pond or sea, retrieving sticks at the river, paddle boarding and retrieving dummies when training in water. Tor and Sue are experts at delivering the dummy to hand BEFORE shaking off the excess water from their coats. More than anything, Granny Sue adores to run and jump, with pure joy as high as she can, from the jetty (videos are available!).

This was a special show, with visiting niece and nephew from New Zealand joining in showing our dogs on Dartmoor. First prizes included best working dog, best mover and dog with the most beautiful eyes. Our nephew took Pippin into the ring for Best in Show and they won. We were thrilled that such a huge rosette was going all the way to New Zealand! There was even an article about them in the local paper so a few weeks later that was on its way to New Zealand too. Even more fun for the dogs, when the showing was completed, there were several rounds of gundog scurrying at the end. With all our dogs having gone through regular gundog training they absolutely thrived in this field.

Granny Sue, steady and calm at one of her favourite places. She is an absolute all rounder performing various tricks taught by our son and excelling with him in agility. Sue is a favourite running companion for one of our daughters and the thrill she exhibits when we take her to the beach brings joy to us all.

And to our fifth generation boy, Lord Lavender of the Fields (Tor - short for Hector) so loyal and a true friend to all the family including allowing a little human to lead him from her buggy. Seen here at his first shoot, proving to always be steady and calm off lead, patiently waiting for the next command. He has been a joy to train from the very beginning. Starting with being able to sit and wait for his meals placed on the floor in front of him at 8 weeks. Only on command, "Tor can have it!" does he start his meal.

We are a family who truly love Golden Retrievers. I remember standing at head height with my Grandmother's retriever who was the South East of England Gundog Champion in 1960! I have his black and white photo (see our gallery) with rosette and we have aimed to breed our own retrievers in his image. Our dogs are strong characters, highly intelligent and totally loving. We are proud to have low hip scores for all our dogs, 0:0 elbow scores and that their eyes are tested clear. Even more importantly, that the inbreeding coefficients for the dogs we breed from are 3.1% and 2.0%.
