Health Tested ⓘ
Proven stud dog with a remarkable, loving temperament. Proving himself to be truly in his prime through 2016 - 2018 producing numerous large, healthy, strong litters with girls regularly returning to him for second and third litters.
2019 has started with visits for him from girls arriving upon recommendation and he continues to be in tip top condition with an extremely healthy weight in the low 30Kg.
Oli (Oriole Shining Gold) has been carefully bred by us for health, fitness and good looks. He has a low, single figure hip score and holds 6 clear eye certificates. He is producing babies with great health tests including 0 elbow scores. Most importantly he has a truly gentle nature and our breeding programme has ensured his inbreeding coefficient is extremely low.
He possesses both brains and beauty and enjoys family life here, to the full being incredibly fit and muscular from all the walks and training we enjoy together and this is a point always noted by vets during routine visits. His heart beat is constantly noted as being of a very healthy, low rate. His steady, flowing action also receives frequent comments along with those about his stunning, rich golden coat. He enjoys gun dog work and is more than happy to enter water and jump great heights to collect various dummies. He loves agility too and is so willing to please us all.
He is a natural retriever with an amazingly soft mouth. He is always delighted to be sent to collect duck and goose eggs when asked, which he delivers so proudly and unscathed to hand! He comes into his own when sent to discover eggs laid by our free range hens who are incredibly clever at hiding them!
Always delighted to see a visiting bitch arrive, Oli remains patient, calm and gentle with all his visitors. Photos of his gorgeous babies are available, via email so please do ask.
Please feel free to call Fiona: (txt only - poor signal) for a chat, should you wish to meet Oli with a view to using him as a stud dog for your health tested bitch. Alternatively email, - We encourage people to bring their girls along, in advance of the mating time, so that she can get to know Oli and become familiar with the surroundings. We are happy to have your girl live in as family (provided she is happy to live alongside our recently rescued abandoned kittens!) if you are travelling some distance - no kennels here.

Oli joined the Rambling Society of the Sky at Easter 2023. He was still enjoying his daily walks of over a mile and showing the youngsters how to retrieve with style. He had watched Gardner's World on Good Friday, enjoying watching the Golden Retrievers, as he always did. He joined in the Sunday Easter Egg Hunt in the Garden (we didn't let him eat the chocolates) but on Easter Monday he became oh so tired. We made him his bed by the wood burner and lit it for him. He would look up at us and for a while, we thought he would rally. But that night, he moved on, ever so peacefully in his own bed just like his mother, Annie, had done. Oli was 14 and a half. We do see his grandchildren, from time to time coming into the world, which gives us great joy. He had such a beautiful temperament to pass on.
