Reiver 19 months, Res Best of Breed Witney & DCS What a handsome lad ! | | Reiver is admired for his handsome dark golden good looks by everyone who meets him. He is very laid back and hasn't a bad bone in his body and is everyones' favourite. He has the most soft and kindly temperament, just like his Champion dad and waggy waggy waggy mum!
He narrowly missed gaining his Junior Warrant, taking a long time to mature and like a good wine, just gets better and better. He prefers a shooting day to old boring dog shows and is much admired by the guns, though he is a happy show boy, always wagging his tail.
He has Open Show Best of Breeds, Gundog Group places, Best Puppy awards and several Best AV Gundog awards to his credit, as well as Championship Show breed firsts and places in Stakes classes, in spite of being very lightly shown. Reiver also passed his Show Gundog Working Certificate, during the 2006/07 season.
Reiver was announced as 'Top Dog 2005' by Test Valley Ringcraft, much to our surprise, as he had attended very few shows. He then started 2006 by qualifying for Crufts 2007 at his first Championship Show, followed by winning 2nd place in his class at Crufts. At Crufts 2007 he was short-listed to the final 8 in a strong Post Graduate Dog class with 35 entries.
He is well boned and has the darkest of black pigment, he is passing his excellent pigment and dark golden good looks on to his puppies. He excels in shoulder layback and forequarter angulation and has the sweetest and most biddable of temperaments - we are constantly receiving requests from people who know Reiver progeny and want a puppy by him.
Reiver is elbow scored 0 and his first litter contained 11 puppies born early October 2005. Two of these are with the charity 'Canine Partners'. His daughter 'Roo' (Tenfield Tern) born on 24th December 2006, is in training with 'Dogs for the Disabled'. We are thrilled that families with Reiver babies are so delighted with their new additions -most seem to inherit Reiver's sweet and calm disposition.
He is a calm and efficient stud dog, as his laid back personality would suggest and is at stud to hip scored and eye tested ladies.
Reiver has sired several litters and three of his puppies made their debut in the show ring during 2007. Tenfield Sea Patrol and his sister Silver Sea Spray qualified for Crufts 2008 at their very first shows ('Holly' at her owners first ever dog show). Another sister Tenfield Sea Diamond was Best Puppy and Puppy Group 3 at the irish Kennel Club Championship Show. 'George' has several Championship Show firsts and was Best Puppy in Show at the Eastern Counties Golden Retriever Club Championship Show. He also has Open Show Best Puppy, Gundog Puppy Group 1 and Reserve Best Puppy in Show wins to his credit.
***** George has now gained his JUNIOR WARRANT *****
Reiver continues to sire quality puppies, most of whom have inherited his placid nature and dark Golden good looks. We are delighted that Dogs For The Disabled are also always interested in litters sired by Reiver.
