Straight forelegs and neat feet. Well ribbed back. Strong over the loin. Correct tail set. Moving effortlessly around the ring. Turned out in the best of coats “
1st Junior, Best Puppy & BOB, Terrier Group 2, Terrier Puppy Group 1 - Ripon & District Canine Society ‘19 - Judith Carruthers (Stanegate)
Best Puppy In Show - Caroline Rees (Amical), who wrote “Top quality 10 month old male who I am sure has a great future ahead of him. Loved everything about this stylish puppy from his typical otter head to his well set and carried tail. His outline cleanly shows his ideal size and shape with moderate length of neck, firm topline, deep chest down to elbow and ribs carried well back. A pleasure to award him Best Puppy in Show."
1st Puppy, 1st Novice, BPIS - Southern Border Terrier Club ‘19 - Jayne Gillam (Orenberg), who wrote ‘ 11 months G&T, niced size young male with a pleasing head and expression. Really lovely puppy to go over with very good lay back of shoulder and angulation with excellent rib, good feet, legs and firm pasterns. Moved well in the rear but like many of the puppies, needs to settle in front movement, well presented in thick coat and pet, good topline and tail set “
1st Junior, CC & BOB - Darlington DSS ‘19 - Mike Hollingsbee (Otterwood), who wrote “13 month old grizzle of top quality, outstanding front construction, level top line leading to a lovely carrot shaped tail. He has an excellent harsh coat with thick undercoat. His movement front and rear was exceptional. Delighted to award him Dog Challenge Certificate and Best of Breed. Proud to hear that he was awarded Terrier Group 4 out of a group containing 23 Best of Breed winners”
Terrier Group 4 - Espen Engh (Jets), who wrote “Another very typical representative of his breed and sex, although still obviously young, he has come a long way already and has all the essentials of the breed. He is of ideal size and shape. Typical otter head with a short and strong muzzle and a keen terrier expression. Small, well shaped ears. Moderate neck fitting very well into his withers, the starting point of his very attractive silhouette. With a body of ideal proportions, his brisket goes down to his elbows and his ribs are moderately sprung to make him scannable. Firm, straight topline, making for an instantly attractive outline. All four legs pointing straight forward. Excellent feet. Well set and carried tail. Harsh and dense coat, if a little on the short side on the day. He moved with determination and balance, sound from all angles"
1st Junior- Driffield ‘19 - David Shields (Wilholme), who wrote “Another quality Border from this kennel who just fills your eye with regard to type, construction and movement and was close up for top honours on the day. Cracking head with a lovely eye and expression. Best of fronts standing on good legs and feet. Excellent body shape, firm topline that he keeps on the move and strong muscular hindquarters. Moved out well both fore and aft on a positive stride. Another I am sure who is destined for a very bright future”
1st Junior - Midland Counties ‘19 - Stuart Plane (Stuane), who wrote “ A very pleasing youngster who excels in neck and shoulder, true front standing, lovely topline and used his tail both standing and on the move. Not quite as settled in front action on the day but provided good competition. Balanced head of quality."
1st Junior, CC & BOB - LKA ‘19 - Mark Lowry (Ravenside), who wrote “ grizzle and tan dog of exceptional quality, shown in full harsh double coat with thick, loose pelt. Beautiful otter head shallow stop, with keen dark eye, correct earset. Nice narrow front with tight feet. Excellent topline with short carrot tail, strong well-muscled hindquarters, moving around the ring, holding a beautiful outline. Was pleased to award DCC and B.O.B, nice to see him shortlisted in the group"
Group Short listed - Andrew Hunt (Dominus)
Top Winning UK Male Junior ‘19
1st Open, BOB, Terrier Group 2 - Otley CS ‘21 - Martin Sanders
CC & BOB - Driffield ‘21 - Linda Coleman (Hartswelin), who wrote “Grizzle in lovely pinwire coat, super condition and well muscled, which was lacking in many exhibits today. Well balanced head with good expression, tight feet, front angulation just flowed through neck and topline to the tip of his tail. Moved well and steadily C.C. B.O.B and Group 2. Owner told me later this was his third C.C. well done.”
Terrier Group 2 - David Shields (Wilholme), who wrote “Lovely dog who in my opinion fits the standard well. Nothing over exaggerated here, a sound and honest dog who put up a grand performance on the day to take second in the Group. Loved his head, eye and expression. Strong muscular neck set in well placed shoulders and the best of legs and feet. Has a firm topline that he keeps on the move, racy hindquarters that the standard asks for and a good tailset. Sound on the move with good reach and drive”
2nd Open - Birmingham National ‘21 - Wendy Mooney (Chesterton), who wrote “Another beautiful dog who was also presented in top condition. Pushed the winner hard in this class. Stunning head and in excellent coat, he was also groomed to perfection. So much to like about him – narrow, straight front; balanced throughout with good length of body and racy hindquarters. Also had neat, tight feet that so many lack. Loved his size and type – a true Border throughout”
1st Open, CC & BOS East Of England ‘22 - Bob Blackley (Vaevictis), who wrote “Excellent dog with a typical head showing expression, good overall construction and balance, spanable, good coat and pelt, excellent movement both ways covering the ground, excellent throughout”
1st Open, BOB, Terrier Group 1 & BIS - Otley Canine Society Premier Open Show ‘22 - David Alcorn (Rutilus), who wrote “Stood away from the competition – right up until he took BIS later in the day! This is a fabulous dog. Wonderful to appreciate on the table, great to get hands on, and excellent on the move. Smashing headpiece with strength and length in jaw. He is well constructed at both ends, nothing is exaggerated, and everything just fits right. He flows together neatly and is balanced in his angles fore and aft which is evident when standing and when in motion. On the go around he is absolutely sound and rhythmic in his action, covering plenty of ground with minimal effort and accurate tidy footfall. Presented in first class condition, he just couldn’t be denied. A credit to his ultra talented breeder and handler, I was delighted to award him BOB, G1 & BIS”
1st Open, BOB - Bridlington & District Canine Society ‘22 - Norma Ellis (Normbar), who wrote “ Quality boy on top form. Most gorgeous head and eye, small ears set on well, best of fronts and tight feet, harsh tight jacket and thick pelt. Racy quarters and well turned stifle. Looked a picture stacked and moved out with Drive carrying his tail well”
BOB +Terrier Group & Res Best in Show.
Terrier Group 1 - Janet Lee (Tythrop),
Reserve Best in Show - Barrie Croft (Malcro), who wrote “No surprise to find him titled. Just looked a Champion, from his nose, to the tip of his tail. From a Kennel that has a knack of producing one good one after another. Loved the masculine head, fabulous reach of neck, the best of shoulders, straight front, faultless body qualities, and a real strength behind, such easy, free sound action. Fit as a fiddle, quality jacket and on top form. Pushed the BIS to the very end. What a quality pair”
2nd Open, Res CC - Bath ‘23 - Anne Gregory (Remony), who wrote “ A worthy champion who is of correct size, good masculine head with flat skull, little stop and strong jaw, straight front with neat feet, well constructed front and rear, narrow body with good length of rib, spans and comes to hand well, good topline, well set on tail, uses his well let down hocks to move with drive around the ring.”
1st Open, CC & BOB - Three Couties ‘23 - Jane Roberts (Smalesmouth), who wrote “ 5 year old G/T in tip top condition. I thought he was excellent with regard to construction and type. There is nothing overdone about him. He excels in head with flat skull and shallow stop. Lovely dark eye and keen expression. Straight forelegs with neat tight feet He is narrow throughout with correct length and shape of rib making him easily spannable. Excellent top line, tail set and tail. Racy muscled hindquarters. Presented in quality double jacket, he also has a thick loose pelt. He moved freely and easily on a long stride – something that is so important to a dog, that should be able to follow a horse all day. Delighted to award him DCC and BOB. Pleased that he was shortlisted in the group”
