Maya joined us on November 1st 2014. She was the only bitch in a litter of 4 with two black dogs and a chocolate boy.
Her mother is our Meadowleigh Romantica (Roma) who, like her mother Ruby, is the sweetest girl, always wanting to please but with that 'naughty' streak popping up now and again..curling up on the sofa when she thinks nobody is around & stealing cushions off the chairs are good examples!
Roma has acquired some great show results & was CRUFTS QUALIFIED in 2015 & 2016.

Maya's sire is Ch Naiken Zephyr who has achieved some outstanding results in the ring as well as gaining his Show Gundog Working Certificate.

In time, we are hoping that Maya will inherit some brains and beauty from both her parents and prove to be another lovely Meadowleigh girl.

At the moment she is such a 'sweetie' and much having much fun including retrieving anything which happens to fall on the floor or be thrown for her to return to hand..
Sounds promising for a young one!

UPDATE:
May 4th 2015
Maya has now competed in her first Open show at 6 months & 4 days..She was awarded BEST PUPPY from a large class of mostly Juniors & our judge declared that she was his 'little find'!
What a promising start!

She then closely followed with 3 more Best Puppy Awards & a Reserve Best of Breed as well as QUALIFYING FOR CRUFTS 2016 AT PAIGNTON CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW in AUGUST 2015 from MINOR PUPPY BITCH.

2016 UPDATE
MAYA has continued her winning ways throughout her Puppy classes into Junior & now progressing through Yearling where she QUALIFIED FOR CRUFTS 2017 BY BEING PLACED 3RD IN A STRONG YEARLING BITCH CLASS AT SOUTHERN COUNTIES CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW IN JULY 2016.
TO DATE, JUDGES HAVE AWARDED MAYA SEVERAL BEST PUPPY AWARDS, 6 BEST OF BREEDS WITH 2 GROUP PLACINGS and 6 RESERVE BOB's.

***** 2017 UPDATE ****
In November 2016, Maya left behind her Special Yearling classes and now has to tackle Undergraduate & Graduate.

AT THE WEST OF ENGLAND LABRADOR CLUB SHOW in January 2017, we were delighted to be awarded RESERVE BEST BITCH IN SHOW by our BREED JUDGE from N IRELAND.

AT THE WEST OF ENGLAND LABRADOR CLUB OPEN SHOW on July 14th 2018, Maya was again awarded RESERVE BEST BITCH IN SHOW by our Breed Judge Bonnie Wiles of Richbourne Labradors.

STOP PRESS...
Having had her first puppies at the end of December 2017,we took a big leap from Graduate Classes into Open with a brilliant result!

AT PAIGNTON CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW on August 4th 2018, Gundog Judge Rob Lane awarded Maya 1ST OPEN BITCH out of 13 including two Champion bitches.

She now has her KC STUD BOOK NUMBER & is QUALIFIED FOR CRUFTS FOR LIFE!

At the LABRADOR RETRIEVER CLUB OF WALES OPEN SHOW ON APRIL 13th 2019, Breed Judge Lisa Finney, awarded Maya
BEST BITCH, BEST OPPOSITE SEX & RESERVE BEST IN SHOW from her Post Graduate class.
Thank you so much for such a lovely day!

Here is Maya's critique:

Post Graduate (10, 3abs)

HOBAN's MEADOWLEIGH ROMANTIC QUEST
Gorgeous black bitch, oozing breed quality. Loved her balance and flowing classic lines.
Most feminine head with beautiful melting expression and Labrador character, presented in excellent coat and condition.
Super front and rear angulation, good reach of neck, correct shoulder placement, good depth to chest, nice spring of rib, firm topline and correct tail set. Good turn to stifle and well let down hocks, lovely bone, stood foursquare on neat feet with well developed hind quarters.
She moved steadily and accurately, straight and true with reach and drive. Looking 'in full bloom' and in my final analysis, this was the bitch that had all the breed qualities to earn her BEST BITCH in a strong bitch challenge.
Also delighted to award her RESERVE BEST IN SHOW and BEST OPPOSITE SEX.

Lisa Finney (Judge)

Maya is continuing to be a joy & presently working hard on her gundog training where she is a quick learner with a speedy return!
