JUST 3 DAYS AFTER HER 13th BIRTHDAY.......

'Ruby' ( Moftz Finnegan by Treburrow x Treburrow Tamzyn of Meadowleigh ) is a home bred dark chocolate daughter of 'Maisie'.

In the show ring, she pleased us as a puppy by gaining several Best Puppy awards and since those 'early' days, has achieved other creditable show placings.

Like her late mother Maisie, she is full of fun & always ready and willing to please.

Ruby has produced four litters - The first to the young black male, Brigburn You'll Do ( French Ch Thanks A Lot de la Legende la Loutre x Brigburn Marsh Orchid ) born January 2009

Her next family of 4 arrived in November 2010, sired by the exciting young black dog - Mardas Roman Republic who is a Junior Warrant winner & has 2 Reserve Challenge Certificates ( Eng Ch Lindall Redemption x Eng Ch Mardas Sahara Silk JW )

These were his first puppies to be born in the UK which made them extra special to us.

After a great deal of deliberation, we decided to keep Meadowleigh Romantica ( 'Roma' ) who at 6 years young, is just the sweetest girl.
She has also since proved to be very bright... It took us quite a while to discover who was 'opening' our back door & letting in the rest of her canine family... by standing on the step & actually turning the handle!

In early January 2012, Ruby delighted us further when ten chocolate puppies arrived, sired by Naiken Suede JW.

Ruby's final litter of 7 chocolates by Keene's Walnut Wesley at Ryedown, was born on 17th April 2013.

From Ruby's final litter born in November 2013, we selected (with some difficulty!) a puppy from the 5 lovely boys.. Meadowleigh Brown Sugar ( WES ) for our friends Anne & Philip Wyatt.
Amazingly, Wes took his first Challenge Certificate & also Best of Breed with Reserve in the Gundog Group, at Welks Championship Show - April 2014, at just over a year old.

Then before he had reached 26 months of age, Wes had been awarded 3 more CC's & 3 Reserve CC's.
He since gained his important 3rd with his title, at the prestigious LRC Championship Show in June 2016 & to date ( MARCH 2017 ) he has accrued a total of 14 CC's & 5 RESERVE CC's
Incredible!

WES was our first home bred SHOW CHAMPION.
Trained by his owner Annie, he has since also gained FULL CHAMPION STATUS by attaining his SHOW GUNDOG WORKING CERTIFICATE on game & dummies.

THIS HAS MADE HIM THE FIRST CHOCOLATE MALE FULL CHAMPION recorded since 1944...

We hugely thank in particular, the 3 initial judges who have made this possible as well as all the judges since who have recognised Wes's super breed qualities together with his sound construction & movement with a temperament which is second to none.

A big thank you is reserved for Becci Hodge of NAIKEN LABRADORS for offering to play such a large part in his handling and consistent success in the ring.

SUCH A SAD DAY....8TH JUNE 2018
Last week turned into a horrid time for all of us as Ruby's family...After a while of very being lame on one of her hind legs and then not responding to the extra medication...On her 13th Birthday..June 5th 2018, further investigation & Xrays gave us the worst news that an aggressive bone tumour had been found in Ruby's right hock..We just couldn't let her continue to be in pain and to suffer and therefore on June 8th 2018, we had to make the oh so tough decision to let her go.

Ruby was the kindest sweetest dog and such a character. She was also the favourite girl for our three small grandchildren, being always so gentle and tolerant.

We thank you Ruby for all the happy times & holidays we have shared together and the lovely puppies which you gave us in your younger days, especially your daughter ..beautiful Roma (M Romantica) & gorgeous Wes who is our first home bred FULL CHAMPION and who has turned out to be such a SUPER STAR.

Your memory will live on in your puppies, & especially in your grandaughter Maya & GG daughter Nessa, who are all here with us.
We are missing your endearing ways, your brown sugar eyes and your ever waggy otter tail, so much ....
