Breeders of:

  • Flat Coated Retriever

I grew up with Skye Terriers and played an active part in showing and breeding, then started myself in Cockers aged 16, established the Ronevorg kennel name, bred 4 litters and showed locally. After getting married and the family wanting a bigger dog, we "discovered" flatcoats and have been hooked ever since. I bought my first flatcoat in 1988, Tara, a litter sister to the successful Exclyst Watchman. Tara lived to the fantastic age fo 14 1/2.

With my family now grown up I was able to get back into showing in 2004. I also accompany my husband on his shoot and pick up for him and the other guns with Sally. I hope to do more in the field in the future.

I abide by the Society's Code of Ethics and promote the health and welfare of the flatcoated retriever, including BVA/KC eye and hip screening tests.

I am a member of the Kennel Club's Assured Breeder Scheme.

In 2010 I started judging the breed at Open Show level.

I currently have 3 flatcoats, Tess Sally, and our latest addition in 2014, our second "Tara".

Tess (Spinneyfield Amazing Grace of Ronevorg) came to me in 2004. My second flatcoat and first show bitch.

Tess gained her Stud Book number and therefore qualfied for Crufts for life although she really preferred the great outdoors over the showring.

She gave me two litters, one in 2008 and the other in 2010, and I handle and show Storm and Lily from the her second litter. Both Storm and Lily have qualified for Crufts each year and also Storm won his Limit class at East of England in 2014 thus achieving his Stud Book number and qualifying for Crufts for life.

Storm's brother Monty was exported to Florida, has excelled in working trials, and is now an American Working and Show Champion.

Tess is now a "double digit" flatcoat and is thoroughly enjoying her retirement from anything she doesn't want to do.

Sally came to me in 2007 from Phil and Sue Goodman's Beanit kennel. She has beautiful Riversflight and Rainesgift breeding lines. She is Tess' niece and "the girls" are inseparable and have lots of fun together. Flatcoats should be in pairs! (at least!)

Sally gained her Stud Book number a just 2 years of age and is therefore qualified for Crufts for life.

Sally has turned out to be a beautiful girl and is a delight to show.

She had her first litter in 2012 to Candidacasa Oor Wullie. I handle and show Dexter,Pippa and Bernie from this litter.

Pippa won her Yearling class at East of England in 2014 and was also awarded the Reserve Challenge Certificate (second best bitch), therefore giving her her Stud Book number and qualifying her for Crufts for life.

Bernie has also qualified for Crufts 2015.

"The girls" - absolutely brilliant with each other - I was delighted to win Best Brace with them at the Flatcoated Retriever Club Show in April 2012 from a class of 20. The judge said "they are just so TOGETHER".

Baby Tara - imported from the Oasis of Peace Kennel in the Czech Republic in 2014, she has a beautiful pedigree with top winning Scandanavian lines. I am grateful to Alzbeta Vrublova for letting me have her. Her showing career has started off well, qualifying for Crufts 2015 at her first show aged just 7 months.
