Having had a successful professional career over the last 20 years, I decided to take a change of direction to allow me to dedicate the time I need to my animals. I am now in a very fortunate position where I work from home running a boarding cattery which allows me to spend the time I need with my dogs and work on my breed line which has been developed over the last 20 years and now offers healthy flatcoats that make good working dogs and pets. Dogs I have bred have also had some success in the show ring. I have 4 flatcoats living with me here, and I work them all in the shooting season, not .... (click to read more)

I have owned Flatcoats since the 1970's having owned one dog and several bitches over the years. My dogs are well loved & well cared for pets who enjoy living in a family home, long walks amongst the Scottish countryside and life in general! Having been able to pick the brains of a show exhibitor friend I decided to breed my own FCR's with an emphasis on retaining the dual purposibility of the breed. I am a member of all 3 Flatcoat clubs and have been very lucky to gain the help of Shirley Oxford (Taranbeck) & the Forsters (Wizardwood) in planning my litter.

As a child I was brought up around dogs ,with both sets of Grandparents and my parents owning them.My parents had Cavalier King Charles spaniels for many years and we had a rolling rota for one or more of their three staying with us ,until one moved in permanently.Sadly she died of a tumour, but I continued with the tradition of owning Cavaliers which I also bred. However, out in the car one day with my daughters we saw a man walking a gorgeous puppy, so I screeched to a halt -as you do -and we all jumped out. That was the start of my love affair with the Flatcoated retriever-Isla you have a lot .... We have only ever owned Flatcoated Retrievers as we find their wonderful personalities, soft silky coats and Peter Pan natures to be totally addictive. Our eldest bitch is Bronagh. The younger bitch is Caoimhe. Their Irish Gaelic home names are courtesy of our daughter. I am 25 years old and have owned my Flatcoat for about 3 years now. I came into the breed through a friend who owns Flatcoats herself as I met her through my local dog training class. I originally had a rescue Dalmatian which I took to dog training but she unfortunately died of cancer so I needed another dog as I couldn't manage life without one. I decided to get a Flatcoat as I loved their character and personality. Lizzie then came along and I couldn't resist getting her, she has a lovely nature with adults and children and is a very easy going bitch and I love her to bits!
