Flat-XP is a small Austrian kennel founded in 2003. The “XP” in the title is derived from “a wonderful eXPerience.”

Our love for flats started in 2001 when we bought our first bitch - Undine. She was very successful in shows and working tests and was awarded with many prizes, the most recent one in summer 2011.

Undine’s first litter consisted of 12 wonderful puppies of whom we kept Anna and Ally.

Our dogs are health screened according to the Austrian Retriever Club’s guidelines.

I have owned Flatcoated Retrievers for over 20 years and would never change breed. I love their humour, looks and temperament. My dogs are shown and worked but primarily they are my friends. They live in the house and are involved in almost everything we do.

I fell in love with the Flatcoated retriever breed as a teenager.
After having my children there was only one breed on my list of 'family dogs' that I wanted and so I got my 1st Flatcoated retriever, Ziva. She is exceptionally even tempered and loves everyone. She plays happily with my little girls and my cats.
Ziva and I have taken our first tentative steps into the world of Showing and are really enjoying it, having qualified for Crufts in both 2013 and 2014.

She is now 4 and joined our picking band two years ago, she has proved to be as clever and willing as the other girls, intuitavely finding birds, with no fear of difficult cover.

The BERNDREWS Affix was granted in 1972 and was owned by my Grandmother Mrs Margaret Brannigan. The breed was totally Boxers!

The photo to the left is off my Grandmother with Silverstein Simon D Of Berndrews (Simon) after winning ANOTHER Best Of Breed. Simon was three quarter dutch and that time it was very rare to get a dog of that breeding in Northern Ireland. Although never a Champion himself he did go on to sire dogs who went on to become Champions themselves.

I got my first Boxer Tim when I was 14 years old and have been knocked out by the breed really ever since. Although .... (click to read more)
