My love of Flatcoats began over 20yrs ago with my 1st bitch bought from Mary Grimes. Gipsy was my constant companion and most loyal friend. My 2nd Flatcoat sadly passed away aged only 6 months from cancer. Whilst raising a very young family my love of the breed remained with me through my parents flatcoats.Since the children have reached school age, I returned to Mary Grimes and brought home Belsud Brown Ace my lovely gentle brown boy who is the apple of my eye.
I would like to thank Mary Grimes and Jo Hewison who think so highly of him and have given me invaluable advice and .... (click to read more) -

Kulawand Retrievers was founded in 1973 by Robert & Sandra Lane. Both Bob and Sandy worked with and had a love of animals from their formative years. Bob worked as a jackaroo in Australia for several years working with horses, cattle, sheep and cattle dogs. Sandy owned and trained collies. In the 1970s, just after their daughter was born, they lost their last collie and decided to have a retriever that was more in keeping with their new family; and thus started 38 years of owning, breeding and showing Golden & Flatcoated Retrievers. Today the Kulawand Affix is a three way partnership with .... (click to read more)

We both work our dogs to pick up on local preasant shoots, Brian uses his for wildfowling and occassionally we get the opportunity to pick up on the grouse moor.

We had Goldies for years, but after a break of twelve years because of the pressures of work, we now have Flatcoats!
We have two Casblaidd girls and they have proved to be brilliant picking up dogs, finding birds in the most unlikely places.
Both our dogs, Millie and Boonie, perform well at both 'walked up' and driven shoots. Boonie is also starting her first season of working tests.
They are also very much part of the family and very tolerant of all the ten grandchildren. The latest, at 7months old, is a great fascination for Millie. -

As a child I was brought up around dogs ,with both sets of Grandparents and my parents owning them.My parents had Cavalier King Charles spaniels for many years and we had a rolling rota for one or more of their three staying with us ,until one moved in permanently.Sadly she died of a tumour, but I continued with the tradition of owning Cavaliers which I also bred. However, out in the car one day with my daughters we saw a man walking a gorgeous puppy, so I screeched to a halt -as you do -and we all jumped out. That was the start of my love affair with the Flatcoated retriever-Isla you have a lot ....
