We live in the beautiful Scottish Borders, with its fantastic forests and rivers on our doorstep - a lifestyle that any Flat Coated Retriever would be delighted to revel in.

I am now in a very fortunate position where I work from home running a boarding cattery which allows me to spend the time I need with my dogs and work on my breed line which has been developed over the last 20 years and now offers healthy flatcoats that make good working dogs and pets. Dogs I have bred have also had some success in the show ring. I have 4 flatcoats living with me here, and I work them all in the shooting season, not .... (click to read more)

As vet myself, and having seen many breeds at work over the years, we have chosen to have Flat coated retrievers as our family pets primarily for their superb natures and love of life. Ciara has certainly lived up to all our expectations in this respect and has a fantastic temperament. She has also proved to have natural working ability and is a pleasure to take out in the field yet remains a loving pet who lives in the house as an integral part of our family. Her puppies will all be reared in the house and will be well socialised with young children, cats, chickens etc etc!!!
