Uma - a Nigerian name which means 'second daughter'.
For Freya's second litter, I chose a sire whose pedigree both contrasted and complimented our own. Very much like her sire, Uma is true to the older 'type' of basenji. She is very much her own person and is typically aloof even at home although she is a 'secret snuggler'. She loves to play rough and tumble with her litter brother Obi.
Uma attended Tyne, Wear & Tees Hound Association Open Show at the age of 6 months and 2 days where she took Best Puppy and Best Of Breed over some much older and experienced competition.
Her winning ways continued as she took Best Puppy Bitch at Bath Championship Show just two days later and also at Southern Counties Championship Show.
She was consistently placed in her classes throughout the year and at Driffield Championship Show again took Best Puppy, Best Bitch and Best of Breed, beating her big brother Silas who was Best Dog.
Her last show as a puppy was The Northern Basenji Society Open Show where she took Best Puppy Bitch.

JB (1) 1 Gaskell's Memetuka Rize 'n Shine - 10 months. Lovely youngster, has a good head with wrinkle on both forehead and cheeks without being overdone and well set on and held ears. Good length of well crested neck and well laid shoulders. Level topline with well set on tail, well ribbed back and nicely tucked up. Good length of leg with moderate turn of stifle and well muscled. Moved well, with reach and drive. In the challenge she just out moved the dog. Best Bitch BOB.

1 Memetuka Rize N'Shine. Slightly out of coat which gave her a gorgeously fluffy tail! A tad longer cast than some but perfectly acceptable in a bitch. Lovely rear assembly, brisket dropping nicely. Nicely filled front. Correct head with small, well placed ears and dark almond eyes.
