*BELATARR makes breed history at the Boston Championship in Jan 2015 where Belatarr Mahalia Jackson ShCM wins the Gundog Group - the first and still one of only two Champ Show G1's ever to be won by an HWV.

Belatarr is a small kennel based deep in the North Devon countryside. Our dogs are very much at the heart of the family, and much of our activity revolves around them. We are fortunate enough to have an almost unlimited amount of outdoor space - woodland, meadows & river - for the dogs to explore and enjoy and they are our companions, first and foremost.

Phoenix, Mingus, Django and Aja have all proven to be extremely successful in the show ring. Phoenix was the top HWV puppy for 2009, and Mingus for 2010, whilst their son Django was top HWVC puppy for 2012. Mingus also holds several breed records, including being the all-time highest scoring HWV show puppy, and the youngest male to be awarded the Kennel Club's Show Certificate of Merit.

Although we do not work our dogs they come from dual-purpose working/show stock. Several of Mingus & Phoenix' siblings and one of each of their parents have enjoyed great success in the field as has our home-bred Belatarr John Coltrane.

Belatarr HWV's are raw-fed from the earliest age, and, having seen the results on our dogs in terms of physical development, digestion and emotional well-being, we are firm advocates of using a natural, wild-based, raw-food diet.

We are members of the Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla Association and the Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla Club of Great Britain. Tim has passed the HWVCGB Breed Specific Seminar and judges the breed at Open and Championship show level. He was the seminar guest speaker at the HWVCGB Breed Appreciation Day 30/10/22. We are also members of the Kennel Club Assured Breeder Scheme.
