We first came upon Spinone in the early 90's when we were looking for a suitable companion for our Giant Schnauzer, Hansel. The KC gave us the ISCGB club secretary's contact details & much to our delight, we found she only lived a half hours drive away. We rang to arrange a visit & that was our first meeting with Linda Collins, of Wynsett fame.
Over the following years, we became close friends & when we were ready for another dog, Linda gave us a 3 year old w/o bitch called Gloria. Later that same year Linda had a litter from Gloria's sister Gypsy and Lui (aka Sh Ch Wynsett Xcalaber) came home with us on the 18th December 1997.
As I was a complete novice to the world of dog shows, Linda campaigned him for me & he had a fabulous show career with her, including BIS ISCGB, CC & BOS Crufts,15 CCs, 6 RCCs, G4, and one time breed record holder.
In the spring of 2003, we sadly lost Gloria, but shortly afterwards, Linda rang to ask if we would take on another of her older bitches who had been returned due to a family break up & that's how we acquired W She's a Flirt. Only lightly shown, Coco won her stud book number at the age of 6½ in 2005, gaining a 2nd in a very strong Open class at Birmingham National, under Nev Newton. Linda & I were both thrilled with that result!
In the mean time, Linda had planned her last litter, Brody x W Dynasty and W Ruby Tuesday came home with us 6 weeks after Linda's tragic death from cancer at the beginning of June 2005. I'm sure Linda would have been equally proud of Ruby's achievements over the last 5 years, RBIS ISCGB 2007, 3 CCs, 7 RCCs.
I started judging in 2006 and I am now on the ISCGB "A1" list. I have served as a committee member of the ISCGB since 2004 and I am currently the membership secretary and edit the Newsletter.
