"Digger" IS a very beautiful dog...
At his very first show outing he gained VHC at The National Gundog Championship Show...
At United Retriever Championship Show he placed 4th (just missing out on Crufts qualification) and at Midland Counties LRC Championship Show in Stafford he was placed 5th in Special Junior in a very strong class...
All was on track and "full steam ahead".... BUT... after entering him into additional shows for the year... his BVA results came back....
A brilliant result for Hips 0:0 (that was wonderful!) BUT... (a week later...) a very disappointing 1:1 Elbow score.
:o(
That was that....
We are rather strict about health tests/results at the kennels... (OK... some might say TOO strict) BUT, going forward, we HAVE to be... We expect it from the Stud Dogs we use so... and customers for a Stud Dog should e able to expect the best too..
Discussions about Digger's future carried on for days, then weeks... He had been entered into additional dog shows but was pulled from competing while we decided what his future held...
OK... he now wasn't going to be the show-dog -- or the future Stud Dog -- we had hoped and planned for... instead we put his show "looks" to one side and considered instead his other strengths... very (very) bright; kind natured; biddable; gentle soul; a good companion... sociable... a quick learner and then... the answer was staring us all in the face..!
A couple of calls (and comprehensive assessments later) off Digger trotted with his new "Dogs for The Disabled" Trainer...!
We have had some very pleasing updates back... He settled in quickly with his "Foster Home" (no problems there) and he had already been into town on a bus (a first..!) and he is now strolling around busy streets; getting used to traffic and noise and many new experiences and challenges...
So far he is taking all of them in his stride (so it's fingers crossed and we wait to hear how he is getting on..!)

"...Good Luck Diggery-Do...!"
