MRS.MAUREEN JUSTICE

Former Breeder of:

  • Gordon Setter
  • Miniature Long Haired Dachshund
  • Miniature Wire Haired Dachshund

My life in Gordon Setters spans over 35 years now and in this time I have had the pleasure of owning and breeding some beautiful dogs. I have been a Kennel Club Assured Breeder for many years now and I am a life member of The British Gordon Setter Club and The Gordon Setter Association and am also a member of The Gordon Setter Club of Scotland. I have had the pleasure of judging both here and abroad and on my first judging appointment in Australia I was immensely impressed with their Gordons both for quality, temperaments and type, so much so that in 1997 I imported a bitch from the Drumdaroch Kennels in Melbourne, her name was Drumdaroch the Jazz Dancer, along with her I imported frozen semen from the same kennel. From this combination in Lucys first litter two males were born who were both to have an impact on not only my English bred dogs but that of other people, these dogs were Liric Coolabah, and Liric the Jolly Swagman who went on to be a Sh.Ch. For many years they proved themselves as top stud dogs. This breeding, in one way or the other, is behind all my Gordons today. I have judged in Australia since that time and have visited since then and I still enjoy their dogs. These two boys opened up the gene pool here for myself and others which has proved successful. I have made up many show champions over the years but nothing gives me greater pleasure than seeing all my Gordons (5 at present) running together and playing in my paddock. They are delightful dogs, but to people who are interested in having a puppy I always say that you have to have a sense of humour when owning a Gordon and enjoy the outside life as much as they do.
Four years ago I imported another male Gordon from the same kennel in Australia, Drumdaroch the XPat to Liric, he too is proving himself as a stud dog and has some promising offspring around, his fun loving gentle ways seem to come through in the puppies he has sired. All my stock is health tested and providing they come up to the criteria then they can be bred from. Puppies that leave me for their new homes have a puppy pack which includes 4 weeks puppy insurance, K.C. registration papers, feeding advice along with a supply of the food that they are being fed on, copies of their parents health certificates, and any other information that I think might be useful. Last but not least I am always on the end of a phone for any help or advice that may be needed
