I am a proud owner of five German Shorthaired Pointers.

My girls are not working dogs, they are solely family pets and are a joy to own and live with.

As a breed they are incredibly intelligent, loyal, loving, gentle and charismatic dogs. They do require a lot of training, mental stimulation and excercise. They are excellent all round working dogs but also make great family pets.

If you are considering a German Shorthaired Pointer as a pet they are best suited to active people/families who have the time to commit to long term training to meet their needs. They require direct access to a secure back garden and not suited to living in a flat or being left alone for extended periods of time when very young.

Research into this breed is essential as they can be very challenging and may not be the right breed of dog for you!
