Merrywelly is a small, personal hobby kennel based in rural Somerset, where our dogs are very much part of everyday life. They share our home, our routines, and the quiet, steady rhythm of the countryside - with plenty of companionship, gentle guidance, and time simply being dogs.

Our treasured Cocker Spaniel, Natasha, fills our home with warmth and character. Her affectionate, steady nature reflects everything we love about the breed and shapes the way we raise and care for our dogs.

We take a thoughtful, unhurried approach to breeding, focusing on wellbeing, comfort, and kind, affectionate temperaments above all else. To reflect these values, we use the official UK RSPCA/BVA Puppy Contract, ensuring transparency and lifelong consideration for the dogs we breed. Honesty, openness, and genuine support for our puppy families matter deeply to us.

Alongside a lifetime of dog ownership, our background includes experience in animal welfare, boarding kennels, dog rescue, and rehoming. This has shaped our understanding of dogs as individuals and strengthened our commitment to doing things properly, thoughtfully, and with care.

Our professional training spans animal welfare, inspection and licensing, canine behaviour, and dog law, underpinning the standards we uphold at Merrywelly - not as a business, but as a responsibility.

From their beginnings in the fields and coverts of Britain to their place beside today’s family hearth, the Cocker Spaniel has never lost its essence. Still known as the merry spaniel, they carry the same joy, devotion, and lively spirit that first won hearts centuries ago.
