The Shork kennel is the fruit of many years of experience living with, showing, breeding and working Labradors, along with a more recent reflection on the direction of the breed which came to maturity in 2014.
We have an equal interest in conformation, working ability, temperament and health. We don't want a Labrador that follows the show trend, getting heavier, less in proportion, with flying or stubborn temperaments. We don't want a Labrador that follows the working trend getting lighter, smaller, insecure and lacking coat.
We want a true Labrador.
A Labrador that can be shown one day, worked the next; whose temperament is nice and calm but whose dynamism and will-to-please fires up when appropriate. Thus enabling him to play with the children, pick up on a shoot or comfort someone who is feeling low. A Labrador, who will not be mistaken for any other breed. A Labrador who can keep up with the richness of life because every effort has been put into giving him the best chance of being healthy.
We go above and beyond anything that will ever be put in place by the Kennel Club or by the breed clubs for health testing. We don't satisfy ourselves with the minimal requirements.
