Welcome to Applecote Golden Retrievers a small and select show kennel based in Leicestershire, the heart of rural England owned by Lesley, Teresa and Michael Layland.

Our dogs are first and foremost much loved and valued members of the family, who live in our home and share the comfort of our sofa.

Together with my parents we can be regularly seen at weekends competing at dog shows up and down the country. I am also a breed specialist championship judge, and have judged extensively thorough out the UK and have also judged in Europe and South Africa.

As we are a select kennel we have litters available very occasionally. So, if you are interested in a puppy then please be prepared to wait. Our dogs are all health tested for hereditary conditions as well as DNA tested.

We only want to breed from the very best and i spend a lot of time studying pedigrees to ensure that any new bloodlines introduced to our lines are complementary, with temperament being my number one priority. When selecting a sire not only do i look for an outstanding temperament and excellent health results but also one that excells in breed type and characteristics, endeavouring to ​produce beautiful and confident family pets.

We are proud to have bred; a UK Show Champion, 2 South African Champions, a Russian Champion and an RKC Junior Warrant holder. Applecote progeny have also produced a further South African Champion title holder and a Champion of Macedonia. Our dogs have all gained their Royal Kennel Club Stud Book number entry and are have their Crufts Lifetime qualification.

However, when not at shows are dogs are just like any other dog; enjoying walks and time off lead, getting mucky and definitely getting up to monkey business!
