Over the past thirty years we only had golden retrievers. For us being a very busy household with lots of noise and children a very child friendly dog is the most important thing. You can live easily with a dog with a wonky leg but if you cannot trust the dog when out in public or when the grandchildren visit then that is much more dificult to achieve safetly.

We had a few litters in the 00's and 10's but have had a hiatus for the past 10 years or so and are starting out again. During that period we had several of our quality dogs trained as assistance dogs and along with our other livestock were occasionally filmed for film and TV. We used to run a business conducting therapy visits to care homes, educational visits for schools, pu lic events in town centers etc and our golden were allways part of this experience. On many an occasion a parent would tell me our child would cross the street to avoid walking past a dog, yours has given him/her so much confidence the issue seems to have gone away! The golden seemed happiest in the middle of a group of children lapping up all the fuss. Beautiful dogs!

We have allways made sure our dogs are of the top quality in terms of health screening, hips, elbows, eyes etc and are pleased to say that Honey our current bitch has a hipscore of 5/5 (a combined 10) this being well below the 23 accepted as a suitable score to breed with so any pups she produces should be well put together. Obviously environment is important so any pups will not have been running up and down stairs, jumping up onto furniture or taken on exvesivly long walks as all these are known to negatively effect the development of your young pup.

All of our dogs have lived in house and not Bern kept in kennels, they are first and foremost family pets. Our current litter being no exception, Ho ey was whelpt in the kitchen and has raised her pups in the centre of the family home. The benefit is the pups are being raised with the clatter of cooking equipment, the noise of conversation the teenagers with the TV on on corner etc and so will be very confident and friendly puppies. Everything somebody walks past the whelping box they are being petted or cuddled!

Who could resist a cuddle with a beautiful golden retriever puppy.
