Helen Masters is more than just a dog behaviourist and trainer. She has a real passion for all
animals and has the necessary qualifications to help you and your dog. Helen has been
practicing for 20 years but 16 of those have been full-time. Prior to that she practiced law!
Helen has qualifications from the British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers and the Kennel
Club. Her behavioural work is accredited by the Cambridge Institute of Dog Behaviour. She
has countless testimonials about the quality of her work and genuinely believes in what she
does. Helen's work is vet approved throughout the country and is fully certified. Helen has
worked with “super vet” Noel FitzPatrick, she has her own online column for Horse and Hound
as their canine expert, has appeared on BBC news several times in respect of giving her
opinion on all dog behavioural matters, as well as being a guest on BBC radio Kent to discuss
relevant dog topics in the news and has featured on Made in Kent Radio too. Helen has
worked for many high-profile clients both in the UK and abroad, her clients have brought dogs
to her from Scotland, Devon, Dorset, Paris, London, Switzerland, and America! She covers
everything from basic obedience and Kennel Club Good Citizen Classes to behavioural issues
with a very keen and specialised interest in reactivity and aggression in all its forms.
Helen also breeds Mastiffs, under the kennel name Lionguard Mastiffs. She is a large breed
expert and is passionate about breeding for health and temperament of this vulnerable breed.
Also known as English Mastiffs due to the fact the mastiff brush is used so broadly across
many other breeds, instead of their correct name, (there is no such thing as a French mastiff
or Italian mastiff), you will often see Helen and Neville on the Discover Dogs stand at Crufts
and at Vulnerable breeds shows nationwide.
Helen's lives on her own farm and alongside looking after her dogs and horses, Helen likes to
help rehabilitate dogs in this environment and her clients often visit her home to work with
her there. She has had a log cabin built especially for her residential dogs, complete with
heating, carpet, sofas, and a radio.... a real Home from Home
