Welcome to Amegilla Labradors, we are a show line Labrador Retriever kennel in Cawood, North Yorkshire. I aim to bring to the world healthy, good looking, happy pups.
My name is Beata and I have loved dogs, particularly Labradors, ever since I remember. My first ever labrador was Barney (sadly passed away in 2019). Unfortunately due to my lack of knowledge and understanding of the breeding I didn’t choose very wisely and discovered when he was young that he had severe dysplasia in both elbows and hips and many other health issues. However I did everything I could to look after him and he had a very happy life with me.
Through this experience I learned my lesson, so when choosing another family member, I did my homework and perfectly healthy Eromdop Maria to Amegilla (or Shelby Maria for short) joined the gang. Shelby is absolutely lovely girl, good looking with really good temperament and most importantly full of love that she’s eager to share. She has had some successes in the show ring but these days I show only occasionally. My main focus is on health and good training. When I originally decided I wanted to breed I was sure to concentrate on running adequate health tests. I aim to bring to the world healthy, good looking, happy pups that will be pleasure to own. Shelby has low hip & elbow scores, clear eyes certificate, is Glaucoma clear (valid for 3 years) and EIC & CNM clear and prcd-PRA hereditary clear. Our puppies will be whelped and raised indoors, I will make sure that they will be all well socialised, and be used to being in the company of other dogs and people. Being familiar with all of the household sounds and scents is also important.
I decided to keep one of Shelby's daughters as she's a copy of her mum with a bit of spice from her dad - same wonderful look, temperament & eagerness to please. Her name is Amegilla Eleanor Alfacute or Ellie for short. Ellie is thoroughly health tested as well however she was never bred from.
In early August 2021 our gang extended by adding Carriegame Daisy May to Amegilla. Daisy May is related to our Amegilla Eleanor Alfacute (Ellie) as her grandad is Ellie's dad so she fits in our team wonderfully.
So my dream about a beautiful chocolate labrador came true. She is beautiful, very healthy and clever girl who will do anything to please us. We started a little adventure with a small showing and she is doing well. We have great hopes in this beautiful girl. She is hereditary cleared for many common labrador issues however she will be health tested more.
I am happy for my pups to go to pet or show homes but first of all I want to make sure that they will go to forever loving homes so prepare for lots of questions about yourself and your family.
*Update*
In November we had devastating news about Daisy May but I was really struggling to come to terms with it so didn't update our page until now. Daisy May has kidney dysplasia (both kidneys very underdeveloped) and the vets are not sure about her life expectancy but for now she is doing well so we are just cherishing each day with this beauty. She is under careful care from our vets and internal medicine consultant. Obviously it means that breeding is off books now. I am sure we will be back to breeding plans at some point when we extend our dog family with another puppy.
