Roddy has been involved in gundogs for over 40 years and won his first Field Trial in 1983. Over the years he has firmly established himself both as a successful trainer and handler, making up three dogs to Field Trial Champions. Roddy has represented Scotland over 40 times, both with Labradors and Spaniels, as well as winning the CLA Home International on three occasions and qualifying five times for the International Gundog League Championship, placing on two of those occasions.

Roddy has judged at many top level events both at home and around the world. He is also the founder and current chairman of the Moray Firth Spaniel and Retriever Club.

Fraser has grown up around gundogs and has been closely following in his Fathers footsteps. He has his own career running gundogs and has been successful in many working tests at both novice and open level. In 2018 he won his first trial and in 2021 made Omachie Colonel of Carnochway up to Field Trial Champion. With this accomplishment they qualified for the IGL retriever championship and finished in 2nd place.
In 2024 Fraser and OFTW Carnochway Red Rooster (Rocky) qualified for the IGL Championship.

FTCH Carnochway Red Rooster & Fraser Forbes won the 2025 International Gundog League Retriever Championship, held at Lauder Estate.

Carnochway Red Rooster has had a very successful season, Rocky is our second generation home bred dog.
His awards to date are-
2nd Grampian puppy test April 2023
-1st NOS puppy test May 2023
-3rd in the novice and then 3rd in the open Grampian test April 2024
-2nd open GRCS May 2024
-1st Gordon district Novice trial (his first trial) 2nd Sept 2024
-1st SGA 2day his second open trial 7th/8th Oct 2024
-2nd GRCS AV 1day 23rd Oct
-3rd Strathmore 2day 11/12th Nov
25/26/27 November, he ran at the IGL championship Combe Estate. He was the youngest dog to qualify.
- In the Scottish Team that won the IWT in Belgium 2025.
- Top dog at Scottish Interclub.
- Top dog at Skinners World Cup 2025.
- 2nd at the Scottish Game Fair.

Trial season 2025

1-2nd of Oct at Kellas estate, 1st place at the Grampian gundog club making him FTCH

6-7th October at Lochan estate, 2nd place at the Scottish gundog association

17-18th Oct at Emblehope and Bangor estate, 3rd place with the Kennel club trial

10-11th November at Gairnshiel, 2nd place with the Strathmore working gundog club

24/25/26th November winner of the IGL championship held at Lauder estate.
