Longmynd Bassets

Longmynd basset hounds was started by Jan Cartwright in 1973.
I work within the veterinary field, therefore temperament and health are my upmost priority.
I have been lucky to have been gifted the kennel name by Jan and Fred Cartwright
My interest in bassets has been since childhood.
Since a child (thanks to my mum) I have always been around dogs, when turning 17, I started with my first show dog. Enzo whom was a Great Dane, we had success with him in the show ring. We then had Elmo and Eva, both Dane’s and both fantastic in the home and show ring.
I then took on a rescue bloodhound Scarlett,
and from then I was hooked on hounds!
Jan gifted me Cedric (who is pictured) I have finally achieved that dream of owning my own. Cedric is a wonderful dog at home and in the show ring and we have had much success, competing at crufts 2024, and are only one ticket away from being a champion. I then added again to my pack with Beryl (also pictured) is only 5 months in photos. Who has won best baby puppy at a basset club show and is a wonderful lady in the house.
More recently we competed at crufts 2025 Beryl won puppy bitch class - and Cedric came 3rd in open dog
We have 6 dogs here from bassets / bloodhounds / spaniel / cross breeds
Both Cedric and Beryl have diamond certificates for health tests, which are the highest you can have / have all health tests and some extra too
We love dogs and nothing is too much trouble, our dogs live in our home, and are brought up with love, from myself, my husband and our son Sidney.
We plan in the future to have litters, and puppies will be reared at home with love and care, socialised, our future owners will become part of the family, We offer a lifetime of support and are always happy to offer help and advice.
We do not just sell our puppies and forget about them.We are always at the end of the phone and like regular reports on all our hounds when they leave us.
