I have owned GSP's since 1998, My affix of AMIDALA having been granted in 2005. I began showing in 2004 although only lightly due to travel distances! I am a breed club and association member and on the judges B list for GSP's, I'm also a Kennel Club Assured Breeder.
2008 ~ There are currently three adult GSP's in our home, Luke, Chewy and Leia (do you see the theme?) Also the memory of Obi remains with us.
UPDATE 2008 ~ We have now added two pups from our litter out of Leia, we have kept a bitch pup called Lara, hopefully she will take to the show ring, and a dog pup called Spot, Spot will start his training for Cani-cross in a few months time.
Our GSP's are the centre of our lives, they are beloved family members more than anything although we do enjoy showing and this year will see the start of our Cani-cross, i have been a keen runner over the last year or so and this year have decided to combine that interest with my beloved dogs.
UPDATE JANUARY 2009 ~ We would like to wish all our pups and their new Mums & Dads all the very very best for long, active and happy lives, to Nula, Morgan, Charlie, Dude, Scout and Finn, lots of love and hugs to you all.
UPDATE 2009 ~ 2009 is now at an end. We have been very busy this year with our dogs doing various activities. Chewy and Leia have had a very light showing season, attending only a handful of open shows. This has allowed us time to concentrate on our youngster Lara.
This year we have attended more Champ shows in one year than ever before, we have also attended plenty of open shows.
The highlights of the year have been:
Multiple Champ show placings,
Multiple BPIG at open level,
Several BOB,
A GROUP 1 at just 9.5 months,
A GROUP 4 at 12 months,
and many other class wins.
Out of the show ring both Leia and Chewy have been doing cani-cross running with my sister-in-law. However Spot has not yet started his cani-cross as i have not found the time for running between work, loving 5 GSP's and all those shows!
Next year we aim to compete at more Champ shows with Lara, Chewy and Leia, I will try to begin Spot's cani-cross, and Luke will continue to warm the harth rug!
We are delighted that all of our pups from Leia's litter at the end of last year are doing very well with their mums and dads. It has been fantastic to see them as they have grown and progressed. So THANK YOU to all our owners for giving each and every one of them the best homes we could have wished for.
2010 ~ We are now well and truly into 2010, i can hardly believe it is March already. The months so far have flown by, we have had some god awful weather with plenty of snow to keep the dogs entertained!
We are planning to attend about 50% of the 31 available champ shows this year. Please look out for us and come and say hello!
2011 ~ As 2011 is drawing to a close I find I have hardly had time to update this page!
There haven't been to many changes here at Amidala, all five dogs continue to be happy and healthy.
The showing has continued, mostly with both the girls and Chewy has had the occassional day out!
Leia and Chewy turned 7 at the end of August, meaning they are now eligable for veteran classes.
To date Leia has done us very proud indeed, so far having won the veteran stakes at Driffield Champ show, been placed 2nd in the veteran stakes at Gundog Society of Wales Champ show, and been awarded BVIS at Tay Valley open show and the HPR Club of Scotland open show. She has also passed her KC Good Citizens Bronze award this year. Just to prove to us all that she may be getting old but she certainly still remains fit, healthy and clever.
Please take a look at our 'RESULTS' section as you will find more photos, and also copies of the judges published critiques.
*UPDATE JUNE 2024*
Its been a long time since i updated and maintained this page.
There have been many changes to our small kennel gang!
Sadly our above dogs have all crossed the rainbow bridge.
Chewy 30/08/04 - 01/03/2019
Lara 22/10/08 - 10/06/2020
Leia 30/08/04 - 25/09/2020
Spot 22/10/08 - 12/05/2021
I have chosen to 'update' rather than 'renew' the details on this page, as i rather enjoy seeing the 'old' details and memories!
Our house is now home to Nina (Lara's daughter), Mia (Lara's daughter from her 2nd litter, born a singleton pup), and Violet (Mia's daughter).
We don't get to as many shows as we would like, as with so many things, life has become so busy it is difficult to swan off around the country every weekend, but that doesn't change our aim to produce quality, correct dogs, who we share every part of our home and life with.
