I have owned SWD's since 2006, have bred 5 litters to date. We regard our dogs as primarily family members and all their other jobs come second. We regularly attend game fairs and discover dogs promoting our wonderful breed. When we have a litter there is usually a good mix of working, show and pet characters amongst the puppies. All my adults have a fully working off switch which as we can all appreciate is a must and they all live in the house.
All my puppies are brought up in a busy house with a small child, cats, many other animals and importantly the rest of the pack. I pride myself on confident outgoing puppies ready for anything the world can throw at them Puppies will also be aptitude tested to confirm you have the most suitable puppy for your household.
As a dog trainer and behaviourist I understand the importance of positive experiences and training below 8 weeks can shape dogs for the rest of their lives.
I put many hours of research into pedigrees and temperament before considering a pairing. My dogs have true low inbreeding coefficient numbers as I try and use uk or Spanish based dogs where the pedigree can be fully verified. I also try where possible not to use popular sires which can lead to popular sire syndrome which in a small breed can happen with relatively low numbers.
I also would never do a bob (short tail) to bob mating as currently scientific evidence is not available to prove it is safe, so I believe it’s not worth the risk.
