Welcome to Flatwater Labradors, run by myself, Mark and my wife Janet. We have both been involved with dogs all our lives. My parents were keen outdoors people and I grew up in a home surrounded by Labradors. I have had my own dogs for most of my adult life and now spend all my time training, working and breeding my Labradors.
Based in Darlington, County Durham we focus on breeding the finest Labrador Retrievers possible. Whether you are looking for a working dog to pick up on your shoot or a companion to share your home and life we can help. We have been Kennel Club Assured Breeders until the scheme closed at the end of 2024, but we continue to operate to the same high standards. I also have a Level 3 Award in Canine Care, Behaviour and Welfare, so you can be safe in the knowledge that we operate to the highest standards. All our dogs are extensively health tested including Hip and Elbow scoring, yearly BVA Eye Exams and a range of DNA tests. In addition to health, we look closely at Pedigrees, temperament and level of inbreeding of any dogs used. The same rigorous standards apply to any stud dogs we may use and we will extensively vet any dog before using it. If they don't make the grade we don't breed from them. All this helps us ensure that our pups are among the finest available. All our dogs come from long lines of working Labradors with many Field Trials Champions in their pedigrees. The desire to retrieve is instinctive and with the correct training our pups will make superb shooting companions or have the potential to excel in the Field Trials circuit. This also makes them great family dogs, easy to train and very loyal and affectionate. They do of course, need lots of physical and mental stimulation and are a great choice for an active family.
