Fifth Hound for heroes

A CHAMPIONSHIP dog show in Kelso became the first in Scotland to raise money for the new charity Hounds for Heroes.

The Hound Association for Scotland's championship show in Springwood Park put on a special class and raised more than £1,300 for the charity set up last year to provide specially trained assistance dogs to injured armed forces and emergency services' men and women.

Association secretary Drew Littlejohn: commented: "I'm extremely humbled that our exhibitors and supporters have been so overwhelming with their generosity and proud that the Hound Association of Scotland contributed towards providing a hound to help a hero."

The class was judged by Mrs Eleanor Bothwell who recently judged the hound group at Crufts.

Femi qualified for the final heat out of more than a hundred dogs (the only Basenji) and finished Fifth.
