We are over the moon to announce the safe arrival of the puppies.
They are a mix of Black and fox red shade of yellow. This repeat mating was deliberately chosen to produce puppies with fabulous Health Testing by parentage. It is one of the best health tested litters available in the UK
We are a Fully Qualified 5 Star Licensed Higher Standards, Kennel Club Breeders of Extensively Health Tested Pure Bred Labradors. Having been awarded a 5 Star License means that we meet the higher welfare standards which in turn helps potential puppy buyers know that we are doing more to make sure our puppies and their parents are happy and healthy.
We are incredibly proud to be one a handful of Qualified Breeders in the UK having successfully completed the nationally recognised Ofqual Regulated Level 3 Certificate in Dog Breeding, Litter Socialisation and Welfare. This groundbreaking qualification, the first ever of its kind in the UK, has been welcomed by many professionals in the pet sector as a huge step forward in animal welfare.
We have completed a course in Cytology, the study of canine cells, including their structure, function and formation.
We have a 3 year first aid certificate after successfully completing a Pet first aid course, delivered by our vet.
We are currently studying towards an Ofqual Regulated Level 3 Diploma in Canine Nutrition, the first of its kind in the UK.
We are also studying towards an Ofqual Regulated Level 3 Diploma in Canine Care, Behaviour & Welfare.
We also undertake annual Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in order to develop new skills and enhance our current abilities in order to be the very best we can.
At Nook on Lyne Labradors we are passionate breeders who embrace that we have a moral & ethical responsibility to ensure the welfare of our beloved dogs and their puppies is at the forefront of our breeding programme.
The ethos of any of our breeding involves dedicating an incredible amount of time & expense with the aim of breeding ethically & responsibly to pass on most importantly superb health to all of our puppies together with the desirable qualities & traits of looks, temperament & confirmation.
We are over the moon that our hard work has been recognised as we have recently been awarded Best Pure Bred Labrador Breeder UK 2024 by LUXlife.
We are members of Responsible Dog Breeders UK, Professional Dog Breeders UK and National Register of Home Breeders where we had to demonstrate we are a small scale responsible domestic Breeder with ethical principles in place of how we work which are in line with the Animal Care College.
As a small Breeder our passion is the Labrador Retriever, our dogs are very much part of the family and spend many hours curled up in front of the Aga or Log Burner.
We have been accepted by the National Home Breeders Association due to our small scale responsible and ethical breeding primarily in the domestic environment as opposed to large scale commercial breeding.
The Labrador with its fabulous temperament is known for its versatility, as such our puppies are suitable for a variety of environments including pet homes, first time dog owners, working dogs and therapy dogs.
By only having a maximum of 2 litters a year this allows us to dedicate all our time and resources into raising our litters to the best of our ability and the fabulous reviews we have received on our Nook on Lyne Website shows our level of commitment. Our girls have 18 months between litters and when they are retired, they are NOT re-homed but instead they enjoy their retirement here with us, they are our family.
We work very closely with our local independent Vet in respect of our Dogs health and our breeding program. She carries out a comprehensive Health Assessment and Gait Evaluation of all of our dogs twice per year in order to establish they are in perfect health.
The unprecedented demand for puppies over the last few years has had serious implications on the health and welfare of many puppies with a sharp rise in avoidable Health Conditions due to unethical breeding and little or no Health Testing.
We are therefore very proud that due to this incredibly hard to find impeccable equally matched CLEAR Health Testing of BOTH the Sire and the Dam ALL puppies in this litter are Guaranteed to be 100% Hereditary Clear of the 23 Breed Specific Genetic Health Conditions commonly found in the Labrador Retriever as opposed to Hereditary Unaffected which is an unknown quantity until a puppy is DNA tested. Furthermore they are hereditary clear of a further 223 Genetic Health Conditions that could potentially mutate to the Labrador Breed. A total of 246 tested Genetic Conditions currently makes this litter one of the best tested litters by parentage in the UK.
Ebony has the most amazing temperament, she has the most loving gentle nature and is a pleasure to own. She has shown a fabulous ability in Obedience Classes/Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme demonstrating superb mental and physical capabilities. The first 16 weeks of a puppies life are crucial for learning & development. With this in mind we have designed a puppy development room that allows for this window of opportunity for puppies to learn both human and canine socialisation and stimulation skills, play and learning about boundaries of behaviour.
We have Litter Socialisation Protocols in place from birth with Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI) starting at day 3 for 14 days. ENS involves a number of gentle exercises individually for a very short period of time. This process is thought to improve Puppy/Dogs stress response later in life. Using ESI in a controlled manner can improve scenting ability later in life, increase confidence and reduce behavioural issues associated with scent.
Socialisation continues up until the puppies leave us to ensure our puppies are exposed to as many different and relevant physical and audio stimuli as possible. Some of the physical exposure includes different textures, surfaces, levels, recall, crate training, movement for car journeys, other dogs and people together with exposure to 90+ audio sounds including fireworks, gunshots, sirens, children playing, dogs barking and loud bangs as well as the usual household noises. We also offer tailored stimuli where this would be beneficial for new owners.
We undertake comprehensive puppy profiling and work very closely with new owners to understand and establish what it is they want from a puppy. We are our puppies voice and it is vital puppies are placed in the correct homes as we want them to thrive not just survive which in turn means happy new owners. At Nook on Lyne nobody gets the last puppy instead everyone gets the right puppy. This process is absolutely invaluable and a pivotal part of our process especially when helping first time dog owners & new owners with complex family dynamics.
By observing individual puppies from the day they are born and noting the reactions they show to various stimuli over several weeks allows us to gain a good understanding of each individual puppies temperament and traits as they develop.
These careful observations are then used to create a personalised profile for each Puppy and allow us to provide new owners with an individual specific tailored plan for their new puppy to take home. These plans can then be used to continue their training at their new homes and at future Puppy Classes.
We want to ensure our puppies and new owners are fully supported when your puppy is transitioned into their new home. We do this by providing a complete package of funded professional support.
We provide a remote Puppy training course with Zigzag.
The online Puppy training course via an App consists of 5 courses, Pre Pup, Pup Starter, Pup Master, Terrible Teens & Trick Starter
The Pre Pup Course is designed to help new owners understand the development stages of their puppy and what they should expect from me as their breeder to ensure the best start in life. It also helps to guide preparing for the arrival of a new puppy.
The Pup Starter Course is designed for puppies aged 8-16 weeks, the most critical development period in a puppies life.
The Pup Master Course is designed for puppies over 12 weeks of age. It consists of how to build on the basics and help for new challenges you may face.
The Terrible Teens Course helps new owners and adolescents through this period.
The Trick Starter Course is about having fun.
New owners have access to 3 Qualified Dog Trainers with years of experience to get you back on track in the event you need advice. Carolyn, Petrina and Sue together with Ziggy AI are available 7 days a week day or night. There is also a private page The Zigzag Puppy Parent Community that has 4.4k members where you will find endless support and advice from other puppy owners.
We provide a funded 12 months subscription to veterinary expertise with VidiVet.
VidiVet delivers veterinary expertise, 24/7 365 days a year without having to book a consultation. It is the first service of its kind in the UK allowing you to ask your question immediately to a vet and receive a personalised video response from the UK qualified Vet team within a matter of moments all via the VidiVet App. It is literally like having a Vet at your fingertips.
You will have sight of a copy of our license. In addition before you leave the puppy will be transferred into your name as the new owner in respect of both the Microchip Database and The Kennel Club.
Puppies are born and reared in our home, they are started on a worming programme at 2 weeks old and are also wormed at 4,6 & 8 weeks with Drontal, they are weighed daily for the the first 2 weeks to ensure adequate daily weight gain, then weekly until 8 weeks. They are microchipped at 6 weeks and vet checked between 7 and 8 weeks at which time they will be given their first vaccinations of Canine Parvovirus and Leptospirosis 2 or 4 depending on your vet recommendation for your Geographical Area.
At Nook on Lyne Labradors we take nutrition very seriously by weaning our puppies onto Eden Puppy Cuisine which according to All About Dog Food, an independent Website that reviews pet foods, is the top ranking complete dry extruded food made in the UK. Staying close to the ancestral diet by providing the optimal ratio of meat and fish to fruits, vegetables, herbs, vitamins, minerals, and botanicals thus creating a superior nutritionally, balanced diet for the best start in life. The two main constituents of bone is calcium and phosphorus. As set out by the FEDIAF guidelines it is critical to ensure that your puppy is fed an adequate supply of these two minerals both absolute and relative to each other during the growth phrase to ensure healthy skeletal development for large breed puppies.
Puppies will be familiar with a crate, started toilet training outside using AstroTurf and introduced to movement for car journeys.
They will have excellent whistle recall before they leave at 8/9 weeks old and all new owners are provided with a ACME Dog Whistle 210.5 to continue with recall.
Please note puppies will NOT be allowed to leave any sooner than 8 weeks of age. It would not only be unlawful under Lucy's Law April 2020 but it is a condition of our licence.
