The parents bring together grace, intelligence, beauty and trainability. Scout’s sire is FENWAY Tallin from the world famous gun dog kennel and her dam is DRAKESHEAD. The combination makes Scout an intelligent, quick learner with a great scenting ability - as well as a love for lying upside down in front of the Aga!

Fonzie is of a very similar stamp, but not too closely related, bringing in some new blood without losing the wonderful conformation and attitude of the true Labrador.

These Praingold puppies will have an inbreeding coefficient of just 5.9, well below the breed average. Their parents are athletic and beautiful with exceptional temperaments. Capable of working, being pets - or doing both. I am lucky enough to own, or know well, four generations on Scout’s side and two on Fonzie’s - all are exceptionally gentle dogs, intelligent, beautiful and biddable - I’d expect their puppies to be the same.

My dogs live inside and the puppies are brought up inside too. They are exposed to all the normal noises of a busy household and a programme of initial familiarisation for sounds like fireworks and gunfire, traffic and crowds. I ensure they meet as wide a variety of people as possible from the time they open their eyes, and they are gently handled every day.

From week 4 they spend time in the ‘active’ pen where development of their physical coordination and balance, and their mental development is stimulated through new sights and smells.

Pups were born on 15 July and are now growing fast, feeding well and starting to play. They will be ready for their new homes on 8 September and will leave with KC papers, Microchip and vaccinations, a Royal Canin puppy voucher, some food, a blanket for comfort and a lifetime of support available from me. They will also have an extensive puppy pack which will have lots of advice on how to look after your new pup now and as it grows up.

All new owners will be expected to sign a contract of ownership - and to ask me any and every question now and in the future. My aim is that every Praingold puppy has a happy and healthy life with a loving family.

If you do decide to make one of the pups a member of your family I will encourage you to visit so that the puppies are used to the scent of you and your home before they leave their mum. If that’s not possible I’ll ask you to send me a suitably old piece of clothing from you which can be used for scent familiarisation instead.

Although I prefer new owners to visit and pick up puppies from here, other arrangements can be made.
