The main purpose of the Australian Canine Eye Scheme (ACES) is to help breeders and dog owners make informed choices about inherited eye diseases when choosing what pedigree liens to breed from, or when purchasing a dog free from inherited eye diseases as a pet.
An eye examination is carried out by a registered veterinary eye specialist. The scheme is endorsed by the Australian National Kennel Council (ANKC) as a reliable screening service.
A Certificate of the eye examination is provided listing whether the dog is affected or unaffected by inherited eye diseases relevant to their breed.
