LEMP stands for Leukoencephalomyelopathy

Leukodystrophy is a group of disorders related to a gradual loss of myelin in the white matter of the brain and spinal cord. Affected animals exhibit movement impairment (ataxia) that can vary greatly depending on the type of leukodystrophy and the breed. Affected animals have difficulties maintaining balance. While stepping, the legs are raised high. There is a progressive weakness.
