Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response

The BAER (Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response) hearing test detects deafness in dogs by measuring the timing of electrical waves from the brain stem in response to a click, as a sound stimulus, in the ear. If the dog cannot hear the clicks, the waves will not appear.

• Unaffected
• Affected - Unilateral
• Affected - Bilateral

Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response is a mandatory test for the following breeds :

• Australian Cattle Dog
• Bull Terrier
• Dalmatian

Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response is a recommended test for the following breeds :

• Border Collie
• Miniature Bull Terrier

Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response is an optional test for the following breeds :

• Black And Tan English Toy Terrier
