Bertie (Sir Raven Jangles) is my third-generation Vizsla, and although of course one shouldn’t officially have favourites, let’s just say I rather like this cheeky lad! His father Vinnie (Vincenzo Bojangles) is still available for stud duties as advertised on this site, but Bertie (born June 2017) is now old enough to provide him with a little competition. Vinnie’s procreational activities thusfar mean that Bertie already has 42 healthy siblings out there, and, I am led to believe, a similar number of happy owners. But having said that, a Vizsla isn’t the right dog for you if you only want a trophy pet (but then, what dog is?), so please don’t consider benefitting from his services unless you have the same zest for life that he does! His temperament is both enthusiastic and fearless, on which is superimposed a most endearing cheekiness when he has eaten your dinner while you weren’t looking. He’s got a good hip score of just 7 (2+5), but for me it’s his easy-going nature with both people and other dogs that really scores, although both birds and rabbits are best advised to hide whenever he is around. And even he does slow down from time to time, when he likes nothing better than to sit on your lap or by the fire, although as I write this he clearly does prefer to play!
