Having lost my last Cocker in 1987, my husband wanted a "bigger dog" so I said "OK, as long as it's a gundog!" So we visited Crufts in 1988 and "discovered" Flatcoated Retrievers. We have been hooked since!
We lived in Devon at the time and were fortunate enough to be referred to Brenda Phillips for our first puppy. Tara came home in August 1988, and grew up alongside our first son, born in the same year. Although intending to get back into the showing arena with Tara, work and family commitments prevented this.
Tara was a beautiful flatcoat, my husband's first dog, and will always be his special flatcoat. She was a litter sister to the very successful Exclyst Watchman. Tara lived to the fantastic age fo 14 1/2 and is buried at the bottom of our garden.
