History

The breed originated in the lake district. In 1912 the name lakeland terrier came about and in 1928 it was given the kennel club classification and achieved CC status in 1931.

Characteristics

The Lakeland Terrier is a smart, sound and workman like dog. The average size for a lakeland is between 13 1/2 to 15 inches. They are a robust , hardy, healthy dogs and their average life span is about 10 years. The breed is good with adults and children and are very active. They are always on the go but will not go outside if the weather is miserable. The breed is generally gay , Fearless and always on their toes.

There are 8 colours of a lakeland. These being : Black & Tan, Blue & Tan, Red Grizzle, Red, Wheaten, Liver, Black or Blue.
