We are Roger & Val Mann & have owned German shorthaired pointers since 1978 buying our first bitch for Roger to take shooting. He had previously shot over a GSPxLab (mac) given to him by the Wades of Larberry fame. When mac died we aquired Valger Penelope. She rounded up the cattle, gathered the sheep worked all season long & won and was placed in several Field Trials. We bred from her & her progeny, using what we thought to be good looking dogs that we knew worked well. The second bitch we bought-in in 1987 was Midlander Marbled Teal from whom we bred our CH Valger Chantilly sired by Penelopes' great grandson Bridgehouse Oak.Around the same time we arranged the breeding, from Oak's sister, of our great SH CH Seashine Periwinkle(kipper). Taking BIS with him at SKC in 1995 was thrilling after 17 yrs of owning this lovely breed. Later we mated Kipper to a Chantilly daughter producing Valger Icemaiden owned by Margaret Davison she aquired 1CC &3RCCs from very little showing. We have bred or owned 5 individual Field Trial winners. Due to increased farming commitments since the mid 90s, Roger & I have used the dogs to work at home on our shoot or around the North by invitation. In 2009 we had the bitch Sh Ch Keigame Precious JW on loan to use Semen from Sh Ch Seashine Periwinkle & produced a AI litter of Puppies. We are forever indebted to Gill Roden for her generosity. The litter produced SH CH Valger Nearco from Keigame AI owned in partnership with Gill. Our Valger Nerissa AI from the litter produced 2012 top puppy Ian & Barbara Halberts SH CH Valger Odessa at Marimay & SH CH Valger Odette owned by Ben & Fiona Thurm. Rissas' 2nd litter by homebred Valger Midshipman produced SH CH Valger Phoebe JW who gained her crowning CC in 2016. Rissa's 3rd litter by SH CH Magregor Pukka, has produced Valger Quorum JW, himself the sire of SH CH Soellis Smoug Doug who gained his title at the age of 1yr & 1day & his sister SH CH Valger Quartz at Elfindrew
