OSTENHAUS

I have always loved dogs but it wasn't till my teens that my parents brought home an 18 month old German Shepherd(Alsatian)as they were called in those days. He was my best friend but sadly only
until he was seven years old when we lost him due to CDRM now called DM.

When my two sons were young I wanted another dog and after much consideration I opened my life up to a Norwegian Elkhound called Dharma she was the biggest learning curb. She was very stubborn, so you can imagine it was no walk in the park training her. I entered her into obedience competitions where we had lots of fun even though we weren't successful. I realised she was not good at competition but at home she was number one, when child three came along she was brilliant !All that training to retrieve was worth while. She would fetch me anything I needed out of my arm reach.

Years later I was gifted my black shepherd. We trained in obedience once again and what a difference it is when a dog wants to work. He made me proud many times.
When Zeina joined us we had lost our Elkhound so my shepherd was very depressed. Zeina was so full of character and persistent that Axel soon came out from his depression. We started
working trials training but unfortunately with heavy family commitments I could not pursue with the working trials so stayed with obedience training at that time.I am very lucky to have some good friends to train with that are experienced working trial competitors, So when Ostenhaus Zana (Yuki) daughter of Yimmy x Zeina came along we competed in working trials for a short time then went on to have two wonderful litters.
Both of these litters went into active homes and have done very well in their selected sports.
From Ostenhaus Zana's second litter we kept Ostenhaus Xcell (Leya) who came along in January 2020 and was known as a lockdown pup. Although we did not socialise as much as my other dogs had done she turned out to be a very social dog. Leya had a litter in 2025 and we now have a beautiful black bitch Ostenhaus Wizz otherwise known as Winnie.

I will only breed from extensively health tested dogs which are Hip and Elbow scored / graded.DM tested clear PD tested clear and in the case of males Haemophilia 'A' tested clear.
